I am 100% behind blowing up the fortress.

If you're playing 23a and you have to deliberately try to destroy the fortress, you're doing it wrong.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Well, if Quietust says so, it can pretty much be considered true fact.

Still, I have no clue what went wrong. Lightningfalcon or someone else before me must've been hypercompetent or something, because just about every's chugging along smoothly by itself. Probably there's been some terrible oversight somewhere that will take out half the fort when it surfaces, but for now it's almost weird how smoothly it's been going.

If I can take my turn next (We were switched right, or was I bumped to the back of the line?) I'll scrutinize everything. And then promptly shit myself when something I missed causes a catastrophe.

I can assure you that me being competent had nothing to do with it.
If we were to try to invoke Murphy's law here, would everything go horribly, killing hundreds of innocent data files, or will the fort forever run smoothly?

I'll bet anything it's going to be attempt to cause trouble that will backfire.

Or work spectacularly and massacre the populous.

I believe we shouldn't deliberately destroy the fortress. We can pull levers to see what they do, as long as they are undocumented. We should really present ourselves with an elaborate goal...

My suggestion is: Build a new fortress within the mountain to the south. Besides trade, it should be able to function as an independent fortress. This separate fortress will not be connected to the outside world, but will be connected to the old fortress.

Edit: Is there a population limit in this version or not? If not, objective: 300 dwarves.

We could see if we can bridge up the entire magma river.

I think it's only a matter of time before open revolution happens triggering a loyalty cascade (are these in 23a?).  In such a case a second prison fort (for the loyalists :P) could come in handy.

Let's FRYthe next dwarf caravan after stealing everything.

Played through a bit of Winter. Ruhn has been dorfed.

Finally investigated the mysterious lever at the bottom of the map. Predictably, it does something boring.

Did it open the bridge at the bottom?  Or nothing at all.

First off, I'm enjoying reading this, even if it's been boring to play.

Second, please dorf me as Bobnova, a miner.

Third, if you need to destabilize, allow me to suggest Drunk Fortress - 2D Edition

Okay, will dorf Bobnova next time I play.

I'm now halfway through Winter. Recent developments include quasi-accidentally drowning a wrestler and peasant in the cave river and the formation of an ill-advised cannon fodder squad armed with maces and no armour. The theory I'm working from is that the more potential problems I 'unintentionally' set up, the greater the chances of one of them causing a hilarious disaster later on. FUN FACT: I appear to be able to play for an average of roughly 20 in-game days before losing my will to keep going.

Actually, that stack of silver coins we found back in the second year were made by me so that hopefully they would remain hidden until the economy kicked in and would mess with things, but then they were found and sold.
