UPDATE:

12th Hematite
We have survived into the summer, alcohol has been produced, so once people start to drink, work should re-continue, but the lack of it for such a time has slowed them to the point that even sleeping takes forever, currently, everyone is back in bed, they spend more time asleep than awake, now, but that should change.

Progress onward into the mountain has yet to show results, unless we find the river out there, we'll be stuck drinking sewer brew all year, I don't want a drink shortage, again.

I feel like I'll be moving everyon into a nicer looking place soon. (no offense. Haphazard setups just irk me for some reason.)

Oh, they irk me, too, I just always make all my forts have the same uniform look and I wantted something new, also, the slower pace of mining made me impatient and I didn't feel like watching hallways be dug forever.

When some migrants arrive, I'll make better places for them

UPDATE:

27th Hematite
We have made a major breakthough in our exploration...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The honors go to Pitchblende and said cat. The door should hopefully keep anyone from drowning, I don't want any cats getting harmed in this.

Also, note the small patch of obsidian on the far side of the river, we might not need to wait for a weaponsmith to show up before we get some swords for Splint.

Will we be building a magma cannon?
Also can I be added to the turn list?

Oh, you've already started. I have a few good mods for 2d version, if someone is still interested, I can post them (can't find them right now, I am using a phone to post).

They won't 'Approve'.  They need plausible deniability with this.
We're going to have to go black.  Channel money through the back channels.  Hook up with a few Middle Eastern arms dealers.  The U.N must NEVER know about this.

If I can figure out how, then maybe, but it will probably be someone else's turn by then, anyway.
As for the turn, yes.

The elves can know.  They won't be able to do anything about it as they roast alive, encased in cooling obsidian.

Wooh Wooh Wooh....

Elves get encased in obsidian....

Which are turned into swords....

Which require wooden handles....

We need a flame cannon!

Joe the elf- "Ha, this +obsidian short sword+ looks a bit like Bob." Urist- "I most assure you, all CraftedDreams products that come from our obsidian production facility are free of any and all elven tree huggers, and that Bob was most assuredly not encased in cooling obsidian as he burned form the inside out after accidentally breathing in some of the molten magma."
