This is completely, utterly off topic, but...

Zrk, that quote in your sig. It is terrible and glorious.

Wild Mass Guessing the future? Oh yes.
Once I get back home, I'll write an enormous timeline.

Oil will be prohibitively expensive, low-density neighborhoods will be hell-ghettos and the vast majority of the population will be urban.  We might have a presence on other planets and hopefully we'll have come to terms with the reality that we almost certainly will never colonize outside our solar system.

We'll have fusion power.  The gap between the haves and have-nots will be much bigger.  I have a strange feeling South Park's goobacks vision won't be that far from the truth, as immigration and intermarriage leads to a racially and culturally homogenous people, at least in America.

Maybe.  Maybe we'll all be dead.

Rapid transit might not happen, but we can certainly colonize outside our solar system. We could do that now if we had a good enough reason to, and not even with a generational ship for the closest stars.

Years and years and years for the closest system, assuming it can even support a colony.  lugging all the supplies we'd need when getting there in a reasonable amount of time means potentially dealing with eight or nine (Or maybe more) kg of fuel for every one kg of supplies.  It might happen, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

It just isn't enough of a priority. If we had some advance notice that, hey, Sol is going to fucking explode in 10 years and we can't do jack to stop it, humanity would survive. How much of humanity is the only real question, but we could totally begin a relocation to whatever starsystem was deemed most appropriate (or perhaps multiple ones, just in case).

How big would a supernova explosion of sol be? Just our system? I'm assuming damn near the whole of it.

If Final Fantasy VII is to be believed, it'd wipe out the entire system and do 9999 points of HP damage.

By 2060, MSH will be Prime Executor of the People's Republic of the Carolinas, while I will be the elderly Shadow Emperor pulling the strings in the background. Our borders will be ringed with the skulls of people who don't use turn signals, as a warning to outsiders.

Not a supernova at all actually. I'm pretty sure the sun is not large enough for that.

Just an ordinary nova, I'm afraid.
