((Mordekhai is the bastion of sanity of the party, while Akari is the perpetually curious kitsune who just has to end up waking an elder god. Or something like that. Curiosity causing some kind of incident that causes insanity or something.))
((Ahhh I doubt V would be going that far--in my eyes, he's got quite the eye in creativity. I expect a surprise if stuffs go wrong, but not outright that 'ohno u dead >:I'. I mean, if we've an intuitive feeling that's bad (as in, generally described as bad + do not touch) then...its a clear hint. Yeah. ...Err. Right.)

Zealots and Demons, The Fall of a God, Turn 91:  Mesmerized

Quote from: Tiruin
Alert others to the find. Try to create a safeguard against wild energy around the self.

Go nearer to the doll, and consciously go against touching it. Examine what happens.

[4] You really don't need protection against most wild magic, but you create a barrier protecting yourself against it anyhow. (-3 mana) [5] You approach the doll, examining the strings of magical enchantment that bind it.  After doing so you feel more skilled in your craft (+1 Enchanting) You now recognize the doll will possess anyone who is holding it.  You quickly move away to protect yourself.  [2] You aren't sure why, but you can feel the doll reaching towards other more susceptible targets.

Quote from: Zako
Carefully check what is inside the bag and if it's of any use, take it after quietly asking the ghosts for permission to do so. Leave the kitchen and head deeper into the manor.

[5] You open the bag.  It's... a sack full of coffee beans.  You're not much of a coffee drinker but seeing as how it doesn't hurt and there are no ghosts around to stop you... you take the sack with you.  [6] You kick the door down to the room.  You see a pirate standing there holding a wooden doll.  You both kind of stare at each other for a moment out of surprise until you prepare your broadsword and he grabs a carving knife off the table.

[Hidden Roll vs. Doll] An image of the doll from earlier forces itself into your mind.  You shake the image from your mind, you have bigger problems right now.

Quote from: lawastooshort
Stash everything in my inventory and then go to the door and get ready to leave with everyone else.

[1] You would get ready to leave, but the doll forces itself into your mind again.  You kind of sit there stunned by the power of the thing.

[Hidden Roll vs. Doll] You get into a squabble with Aegnor over whether or not to destroy the doll.

Quote from: Ochita
Get ready to leave the dungeon.

[6] You're so prepared to leave, you don't need to get ready.  Of course you don't actually leave the dungeon, but you know you can do so any time you want.

[Hidden Roll vs. Doll] You get into a squabble with Tikan over whether or not to destroy the doll.

Quote from: Caellath
Move out of the dungeon, dragging Akari along if need be to prevent her from being mesmerized by the doll.

[3] You move back up into the kitchen, you see Fleur heading back down to the dungeon and Kael fighting a mindless pirate in the next room.  The pirate appears to be holding another wooden doll.  You look behind you, thinking you grabbed Akari by the tail before leaving, only to find [1(Mordekhai)vs.5(Akari)] she was apparently left behind.  Curse her stubborn desire to investigate everything.

[Hidden Roll vs. Doll]  You don't notice the doll whatsoever.

Quote from: Fleur
Follow the Troll, backstab the Mesmerized Pirate.

[5] Fleur silently follows Kael into the Dining Hall surprised as the mesmerized pirate rushes in, carving knife in hand.  [6] She flips over his shoulders but lands too far back to stab him in the back, her back practically in the next room.  She curses under her breath in her native Draconic.

[Hidden Roll vs. Doll]  Fleur hesitates as she moves towards the opponent, falling back to the kitchen.

Enemies:
Mesmerized Pirate 1:  [3] [4-2/2=1 damage]  He mindlessly moves towards Kael slashing at him with the rather ineffective carving knife, but somehow managing to cut his face.
Health:  30 of 30

Aegnor looked at the doll, the doll looked back. Aegnor then decided that the doll should prooobably be burnt. Until destroyed. He reached for the matches that he had oh so recently picked up, fishing them out of his robes before a spontanious argument erupted between him and Tikan.
"This doll should be burned, I see how its affected you Tikan, snap out of it, or at least restrain yourself just a little bit, Akari, only use magic if these matches falter in their task."

Burn the doll!

((I was still correct in the fact of it being some kind of incident that causes something along the lines of insanity.))

((I know I don't really need protection given my...*ehem* :P But!))

Akari ripped her gaze from the doll towards Morde-where Mordekhai was and realized with a jolt in her chest...it was aware.
Was it the ghosts that did it? Very different from spirits those were, of course, but universally confused terminology.
...
What was going on. Why possession? If it was made by residing ghosts, then she'd fathom it was a very strong (or a very residual and built-over-time) bond...

"Mordekhai!" Her feetsteps came rushing out of the room to warn him. "Mordekhai! Alert the others! The doll ...is like a passageway of some sort. I'm unsure what term you people use to describe it but we've to either get out of here or...find away to deal with the source."

Run towards Mordekhai. Alert him and anyone in vicinity; ponder upon how to break the doll's magics. Is it feasible to try to channel my energy towards it to...err, 'overload' or snap the webbing of wild energy? -- counter this thought by knowledge I've either heard of, or experience in the past.

...
[Sorry for using energy in place of such. I'm too used to calling magic and stuffs as energy xD]

((I hope not even minding the doll meant my "Resist Mindfuck" roll was very high.))

Noticing Akari isn't around and may be trying to investigate that doll further, Mordekhai hurries back into the dungeon to get the foxfolk out of that place and into safety. "Akari, come with me. That is request which is also valid for both of you, Tikan and Aegnor." he says in his usual voice, not yelling in order to avoid calling the attention of anything that might have missed their admittedly very noisy and far from efficient infiltration into the mansion.

Get back in the basement to extricate my allies from there and drag them into the moderate safety of the kitchen.

"Hey steve." You speak into the air.
>Yes?
"Could you guys also make a hamburger out of this arm when they cut it off? I wanted to eat it just for the sake of tasting it."
>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

((I will assume time shenanigans))

Akari blinked. It took a second to figure that Mordekhai didn't hear her words at the start.

"This place is cursed." she replied in her usual voice, though with a shaky timbre given her recent realization.

"I don't know very well know what you're talking about, sir. It has affected you, and I am the one who thinks it should be burnt, or preserved forever in my grasp."

Attempt to leave the dungeon and the doll.

((did I have a colour before?
Also, apologies, I didn't get the chance to post yesterday, and second apologies as it's taking me a while to get back into the character))

Aegnor looked at Mordekhai, then at Akari, and then finally at Tikan. He gave off a small annoyed sigh, holding the matches in his hand. "Tikan, that makes no sense. Just get going and I'll burn it. Mordekhai, I believe that Akari has reason to think that this doll is causing some effect on us, or something. That is why Im going to burn it until nothing remains. Is there any objection to that?" Aegnor coughed a little, obviously still annoyed from his argument with Tikan about the doll.

Zealots and Demons, The Fall of a God, Turn 92:  DEATH WAIL!

Quote from: Zako
Give him a taste of my blade! Slam attack this sucker!

[1] You attempt to slam the broadside of your sword into his head... but... he... his body is made out of wood now?  He's slowly being replaced by the wooden doll?  You look down at it and you see the... well half-wooden man holding a half-pirate doll.  Needless to say your attack against his now wooden head was resoundingly ineffective.

Quote from: Ochita
Burn the doll!

[4]  You take your matches out and approach the doll.  You light it on fire and the fire quickly takes, engulfing the entire doll.

[Hidden Roll vs. Doll]  You feel the doll reach into your mind one last time but it is short lived as it turns into a pile of ash.

As the magic that bound the doll is undone you see the ghost tied to it come out of the doll and unleash a terrifying death wail.  [4 damage to EVERYONE in the house]

Quote from: Tiruin
Run towards Mordekhai. Alert him and anyone in vicinity; ponder upon how to break the doll's magics. Is it feasible to try to channel my energy towards it to...err, 'overload' or snap the webbing of wild energy? -- counter this thought by knowledge I've either heard of, or experience in the past.

[4] You head back upstairs and ponder how to destroy these dolls.  Now that you've examined the magic, you can sense at least five other dolls present in the house.  In fact one is fighting Kael in the dining room right now.

[5] The most common way to undermine strong enchantments such as these is to attempt to rewrite the magical energy into other enchantments... but you realize that won't work as these dolls are merely vessels for great ghostly energy.  You should read your book and attempt to either create a spell that will draw upon the ghostly energy present, or summon one of the creatures you read about that feeds on ghostly energy.  No doubt if you search hard enough you could find the spirit dust required to summon such a creature.

Quote from: Caellath
Get back in the basement to extricate my allies from there and drag them into the moderate safety of the kitchen.

[5]  You rush downstairs, with one arm you grab Tikan, with the other Aegnor.  [5]  You notice the doll has turned into the spirit dust the Kitsune was muttering about earlier.  You have no free hands but decide to file away the information for later.  You rush back upstairs with your charges in tow.

Quote from: lawastooshort
Attempt to leave the dungeon and the doll.

[auto-success]  It seems that Mordekhai has decided to carry you out of the dungeon.  You would protest but he seems to be enjoying himself well enough for the moment.

Quote from: Fleur
Get back in there and knock the doll from the hands of the pirate.

[4] Fleur rushes back into the room and [5] kicks the doll from the hands of the... other doll.  They both seem less... whole now.  The Half-Pirate Doll flies into the corner of the room.

Enemies:
Half-Wooden Pirate 1:  [2]  The doll-pirate hybrid just stands there, as though trying to comprehend the world around him with no eyes or other sensory organs.  At least not that are readily visible.
Health:  24 of 30
Inventory:  Carving Knife
Status:  Separated, 2 damage per turn until reunited or dead.

Spoiler: Mordekhai Sarvedon (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Akari Talria (click to show/hide)

((OH HO HO, I'd recommend not pick that doll up unless you want to be half pirate and half wood.... and probably letting Akari muddle through someway to kill these things without letting them Death Wail.  Unless you want Maria to be dead already by the time you get there, which is another option of course.  Also yes, completely ignoring the mind-control dolls is a very good roll.))

It's like reading the book reads other books.

Akari chose to browse through the book in search of any summon she could ask aid from in regard to this whole conundrum. She needed something to feed--or rather, something to divert and direct (rather than just gobble all this up, didn't sound well to her) the wild magic.

Yet what was on her mind was why the ghosts were here.

"Mordekhai, stick with the others. I sensed Khael in the dining room; go to his aid. I'll be alright here I j-I just need time." Akari said as she flipped open her book.

A book within a book. That's a strange idea.

Also collect ye dust.
