12. The day that dwarven guilds and unions are added, and the hold a strike to oppose all the deaths lost to my newest megaproject.

That's a bad thing?

Depends on how balanced it is. 1 miner per siege digging a 1tile tunnel would be much better than all 60 invaders starting to dig at once, which would make building a fort pretty much impossible.

13. The day that nobles are actually IMPORTANT in dwarven society, making it actually worthwhile to bend to their whims.  I use nobles in my forts for comedic effect, you see.....

I must be masochistic cause almost all of these sound awesome to me.
Actually the longer I read the more I agree. More realism and stuff like guilds, useful nobles and siege engines sound pretty good.

14. The day light and torches are added and dwarves can be afraid of the dark and have their field of view limited by darkness.

I must be masochistic cause almost all of these sound awesome to me.

Not suprising, you are the guy I almost convinced to embark on an arctic ocean.

15. the day dorfs gain magic or discover gunpowder, can you say giant fireball? that or if Toady adds alchohal drinking beasts, a sober fort is an unhappy fort.

Right :). And no more "Oh, I' running low on booze, I'll just set brew drink on repeat, problem solved." With realistic brewing times dwarfs would be the new elephants, 1000 barrels of booze could take years...

17. The day the gods and clowns fight around our forts after breaching HFS. Problem with that? Collateral damage.

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.

18. The day dwarves are unwilling to lend their lives to the cause of a magma-spewing phallus (not that I'm building one, but I like having the option open)

That would actually be awesome (provided there's a backup save of the fort).

19. The day locking a door requires a key. "So where in the key stockpile is the key to the mayors bedroom again?"
