Cant see any enemy tanks coming at us through the trees.

I think that if there are any enemy tanks will either come at us from the east around the trees of Krapivny Wood, or straight south through the gap to the west of the same wood. That or get stuck in the trees making them easy targets for Artilliery.

Deploy in the most north easterly house of Taldy-Kurgan, supporting Scelly9's infantry. Reccomend Artilliery fire is concentrated on Krapivny Wood.

Deploy loosely on Hill 196, facing north-east (bearing around 030)

I think we should place some troops near the road to Taldy, below the red line (not circle). Do I have any anti-tank grenades in my squad? I'm kind of expecting tanks to go down it, more than anything...

which, for some Lenin forsaken reason, are actually better at killing tanks than AT guns

Previous WWII LP's have probably shown that I don't like tanks much.

Just line them up for me.

In the village. I'm unnerved by it being half-way (well, 1/3 way) into our territory. Shouldn't we at least place some advance forces as close to the top of our area of deployment as possible? If infantry comes, my men will engage it, and if it's tanks, you will be able to avenge me. Unless we (my guys) weren't issued any AT weapons at all, in which case I should just pull back and let you handle it. So were we?

I dont want to get too far from the hill we are defending, would like some cover and the element of suprise from being unseen, and besides scelly9 has deployed some infantry to my North to act as a forward unit.

I guess I could deploy east of you then.
I deploy my unit on the edge of the woods to the north-east of Taldy-Kurgan (Cerkovny Wood, I guess). Facing: north, formation: tight (as long as the wooded part east of the road).

As suicidal recon force, I volunteer to deploy in Myshiny Wood, loose formation, facing north-northeast

Which brings up a question, I know we can't communicate once in the field, but will our units be able to hear gunfire and be able to roughly tell where it is coming from?  If so, my unit will provide valuable recon by dying to show where the enemy is located.

Here is my master plan: My unit will hold until either:
1) We come under sustained enemy attack, to which we will retreat towards Taldy and the rest of our forces.
2) We hear gunfire south of us, in which case the enemy has gone around us, and therefore we will proceed towards the gunfire and hopefully catch the enemy in a pincer movement, attacking from their rear!
3) We spot their mortar/artillery unit unprotected, in which case we will proceed with an all-out attack, attempting to take such units out at close range.  Especially effective versus mortars with minimum ranges!

The answer to that is yes, I will provide general information on the location of enemy fire.

Additionally, if anyone plans to have their squad move during the next turn, that should be included in your deployment order.

wouldn't it make more sense for us to see where everyone is before giving movement orders?

I mean if someone wants to deploy and then immediately move beyond the deployment zone to take up a more forward defensive position.
