I guess I'll have to do that, as Myshiny woods are north of the deployment zone.  So put me in the tiny bit of forests north of the river but still in the deployment zone and advance towards Myshiny Woods under cover of trees.  If we spot mortars or artillery, attack!

right, best move my spotters up till they make contact with the enemy. Don't hesitate to radio for some mortar support if you need it comrades

Hmm. Half track on the right flank. Dont think an AT rifle is needed for that is it? Burntpies could probably do some damage to it with some MG fire.

Unless of course you really want an AT rifle squad to move to the right flank in anticipation of heavier armour following it, leaving one in the village.

Yeah but the accuracy is better when the crew can see what they are firing at, spotters are good but LOS is better.

But remember if you can see them they can sure as hell see you. ;)

And given that mortar crews have no other weapon.....

Also, having played this game, a couple of mortar rounds near a position will usually cause anything nearby to be supressed (which halts movement) or in the case of vehicles pull back briefly (which is about as good as it gets)

Scelly9; you have grenades, they are not intended to kill tanks, and against later tanks they are useless, but while the enemy has light stuff like half-tracks and pz1/2s, you have a fighting chance if you get close. You can also call arty in on tanks, but not if they are moving. It takes about a minute to arrive.
