Journal of Zasit Cudistushat

I remember the day like it was yesterday, probably because it was just yesterday. A rainy day up above our Dwarven hovel, you could tell by the almost seeming-less endless pounding that could be heard from above the mountain halls, the musky, yet ever so sweet, smell of rain slowly creeping it's way into the fortress. In general it was just shaping up to be a great day, I even remember walking out from that of my room to find the local children playing their ever so loved game of Dwarves and Goblins throughout the dormitory hallways. Everyone was loving the sensation of the downpour that had erupted and made it's way into our lives, even if for one single moment I could plainly say we where happy. Everything was just... Swell I guess.

And then it all went down the drain.

Almost as soon as I walked out my door and saw those kids I bore witness to something else, armed, waiting, guards. And not for my next door neighbor, oh no! They where waiting for me, Zasit Cudistushat, a lowly mechanic in the grand scheme of things. A simple Dwarf who looked only to work, sleep and eat. And now? Guards, AKA a one way ticket to either the slammer or a nice scenic vacation in hell the King and Queens next glorious project. Unfortunately for me I received a scroll indicating that of the later and was immediately sent on my way to a nicely packed, full of supplies, wagon carried by two very large animals, six other unlucky fellows and a scroll that my life probably depended upon yet I still hadn't gotten to read, (Did they really need to cuff me to this wagon and gag me?).

An Unread Royal Scroll Given to Zasit Cudistushat

Dear Urist Cudistushat, the Legendary Blacksmith,

The Queen and I have thought up a brilliant plan!

As you may know already this region is growing in the number of goblins, rouges and outlaws, all of whom are coming from that blasted continent that lies directly north of us. And how are they getting here? Why, following that blasted stream located in The Pregnant Field that's how! They come from the north and seek to pillage the loot of the south! At this point your probably thinking to yourself, "Why does this concern me and how are we going to stop it?"

A wall! A big wall!

If you don't know already The Pregnant Field is a very small patch of land that connects the north and the south in the quickest was possible and is located right between two seas, making it the ideal place to use as a quick bridge to cross from one continent to the other.

Thus the plan unfolds!

By using your amazing skills with Black Smithing (Wouldn't want to give this to some Mechanic right? Haha, low lifes) we want you to build a very large wall made of pure iron and trimmed with only the finest of metals, be it gold, rose gold, black gold, whatever! We want you to build us a wall. It must go at least ten blocks into the air and go down to that of the rumored "Magma Sea" because of course, we do not want anyone traveling through the caverns or digging under it! It also must be about eight or so blocks thick in order to ensure it does not fall. Finally we request you do all this right over the stream in order to ensure anyone hoping to jump the border runs directly into your wall!

Attached an image of The Pregnant Field and some general information about it.

Thanks,

The King and Queen.

----

Basically, build a really big wall over a small patch of land in order to "Seal off" the two continents. Hopefully the writing makes sense, I'm a little sick right now but couldn't wait to start this project!

I currently have 6 Dwarves free for dwarfing and you can pick your skills as I have yet to embark.

Without farther ado, lets get this started!

I request a mason/mechanic/architect, female since you only have females.  Name her Sphala.

Journal of Zasit Cudistushat
Year one-

As we approached the site that our king had deemed sufficient for his wall the guards whom had ride along with our group untied us from our caravan and released the binds around my mouth. Deeming it a good time to read up on what I was sent her for I opened my scroll and begun reading that of my instructions, I didn't even get through the first line before I was up in arms.

They got the wrong person.

They had confused me with the local black smith Urist Cudistushat, and in the process sent me, a "Low Life Mechanic" in his place. Instantly I stood up, throwing that of the instructions onto the cavern floor and scream at the top of my lungs to be taken home as they had the wrong person. The guards inspected me at first and then once again grabbed, tied, and gagged me to that of the wagon, with one of them picking up the scroll has thrown in my fit of rage. There they stood, observing and reading the scroll, their faces becoming more grim with every word. They had realized that they had grabbed that of the wrong person and now? Now they where starting to feel the sudden urge that their jobs may be on the line. Finally, as they finished the scroll one of the guards turned and looked at me, and with a shaky voice began to speak.

"What ever are you talking about Urist?" His voice adding emphasis on that final name, and becoming more confident every second. In protest I attempted to bite through that of the ropes that held my mouth shut.

"Oh, be quiet Urist." A second guard spoke now, backing up the claim of his friend.

Our ride continued the next couple of miles like this, the guards speaking and attempting to quiet me as I yelled and attempted to break free of the binds that constricted me toward an ill-deserved fate.

__________

"Ah here at last, alright have fun Urist! Build us a wall worthy of the mountain homes!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Those where the last words that our "Protection" said to us before departing back to the warm fires of the mountain homes on a secondary wagon they had brought along. It was official, I was stuck here, in a field, with six other Dwarves whom I didn't know anything about.

Great.

Well, the guards got it a little correct, IM a blacksmith.

Hey, Urist, your a legendary Metalsmith? Your the one that made me want to be a blacksmith, but I suck at it. But this wall should renew my interest.
