William orders a monument built in the square where the massacre took place. (Specs to come later.)

Then William prepares to give a speech to the citizenry. Hoping for full crowd and such...

Hire an engineer for next season.

Offer to take on an apprentice.

[46] You manage to find a local boy, not much more than 15, who seems a little -too- eager to work for you. He'll make a great engineer one day - provided his overzealousness doesn't kill him first.

.5d is spent to commission a small monument to the lives lost during the 'incident'.

People eagerly await some formal word on what happened. Rumors and conjecture just aren't sufficient or helpful.

Engineer pegged for fall (-2d)

Continue with the protection of the Merchant Caravan. Send a scout ahead of our group to assess the terrain.

[1-2, 3] Your men have no real Scout training, and find nothing in the way of bandits and whatnot. Nor does it seem to matter since nothing happened the entire trip anyway. You arrive at what looks like a crude mining operation in the north mountains.

"We arrive! People have herd about the operation, but few know exactly where it is. We're a little tucked away up here, and most runners and military scouts will take a while to find the mine. The brothers running the operation have been paying me a fair sum to keep my mouth shut and bring them supplies periodically." The Merchant laughs, "It took some doing to find a way to make my purchases not look suspicious. You can't exactly buy everything in one city and start off."

-Have the Thornbred, in groups of three and dressed in unadorned armor (so as to make it harder to identify them), begin to canvass the city in search of anyone openly speaking dissent against the current state of affairs re: their ruler. They are to figure out where these people live.
-Send the spy to Fiumefurt, have him begin to embezzle funds.

You don't have enough money to fund the operation for your Spy

[15] They're not very ninja about it, but they do happen to find several dissident citizens.

Load up all regiments onto the ships, as well as all support staff and everything else. Trade route is to be stopped for this. Destination is Shola.

You arrive at the mediocre port of Shola. Basically just the landing berth of all the fishing fleets for the nation, no formally built trade port exists. Because of this, you're required to anchor offshore and ferry everyone in by dinghy.

Train Charisma

In Shola, randomly wander around, sightseeing. What sights, exactly, she had absolutely no idea of. Maybe the library, if there is a big, central one.

((Also, please do roll a random encounter chance with Gavin. Or maybe Ardas could deliberately meet with...))

Also, with Laythe's permission, order Laythe's engineers to start production of gunpowder.

[43565] You spend some time whoring yourself out in the taverns and Inns trying to pick up anything with a pulse - ditching them (or not) at your discretion.

80pts gained in Charisma training(nice)

[3] During your 'adventures' you do manage to come across Gavin doing his own (albeit poor) attempts to belay boredom

The University is open, but access to much of the material is limited to those in the Service of Cain or long time, and well known, residents of the city.

((When did Tari get engineers?))

Or, if possible,

time-skip to where I found Gavin and sneak up on him.

William stood on a small platform in front of the manor, which was also in front of the crowd of Polcan citizens. He’s paler then usual, and wearing simple street clothes, instead of his usual greatcoat.

“Now then, thank you all for coming here today. This speech is indeed about the  recent riots that rocked Polca just a few weeks ago, and caused a ducat’s worth of damage and left a number of citizens dead. This rioting was caused by a man named Gavin Aureluis, who used fell and dark magic in an attempt on my life. This man was hired by the Old Lord in an attempt to regain control of Polca so that criminals could run free, and the Hatcur could walk all over the rights of the proper citizenry. This mage- Gavin -used his magics to brainwash a Preacher of the Light into making the a group of frightened people attack me and my men when we were attempting to end the rioting peacefully. I was not given a chance to talk the rioters out of it before they attacked and attempted to kill me. The Rioters were caught in between the Crimson Guard and a group of Horsemen mercenaries. Resulting in their deaths, and the deaths of the Polcan Guard.”

William pauses.

“The loss of life is tragic, but unchangeable…But…Enough of that.  My men will guard Polca until the People of this fair state can trust me as their leader.”
“Next week I’ll be heading out with the Red Rose Regiment of the Crimson Guard to destroy the bandits that are plaguing the countryside. I'll be leaving an ally of mine to keep the peace until I get back or die. Hopefully I can find penance for the slaughter…probably not. Good day.”

Speech above.

Lan felt a hint of suspicion come across her thoughts when hearing the merchant's words.

"Wait, you're from the Storm Coast Merchant's Guild right? Nevertheless, this...operation is illegal, due to the covertness you needed to undergo, I take it?

"And forgive me, but what is this operation anyway?"

Form up my regiment into a defensive position or a perimeter around the Mines in a preferably secluded location, if possible.

Inquire about operation.

Or, if possible,

((Time is fungible. I left the event open as to allow you boh to interact from there should you decide to))

ALSO: Engineer issues resolved. Conclusion: My bookkeeping used to suck.

You have access to 1 Engineer under laythe - who will produce 1 unit of gunpowder, next season, for 1d - provided they've got adequate facilities. Which Shola has, just not for the public. Cain and several high ranking alchemists would.

Find a physican to treat the wounds Laythe recieved in Polca last season, organize a meeting with Lord Cain afterwards through Hyte.

Lots 'o docs in Shola, [5?] you find one that offers to treat your wounds - and keep their mouth shut. A rare occurance for hunted (wo)men.

[46] You send Hyte off to arrange a meeting, which he returns with news: "Cain would be very interested to see you, tomorrow. Currently, he's entertaining a guest that would likely cause issues should parties meet." It's not a secret that Cain has associations with many parties, you're of course curious as to who, but Hyte ensures things will go smoother this way for all parties. "You are still wanted, with a bounty, that my Lord would likely use as cover for you being here"

[4?] Should you survive, you'll manage to nullify the dissent from both incidents.

Continue training Power in my travels.

[23652] Net gain 20 pts in Power

Search university library for general knowledge on wizardry and on soul energy. If no books are found ask steward for help in aquiring them.
Practice resolution aspect in the confines of the lab.

[65453] 80-20 due to whoring (rather than a -1 across) Net gain 60

Your ability to obtain desired effect as well as cutting off a powersource, namely yourself, before death has improved greatly - obviously, otherwise Cain would be repurposing this room again.

[35] Much of the information in the library is mediocre of use at best, but will provide some direction for your training in Control (+10pts when used, 1 use). The Stewards are perplexed by your request, but know of a few locals that -may- have what you seek. The Herbalist has a small stockpile of 'curiosities' she's picked up in her travels, as well as a young Druid under the tight grasp of Cain himself. [2] Unfortunately the boy is out of town currently on an errand for the Lord, and won't likely return before Autumn - should he survive. The herbalist [2,?] is cranky over the previous year's weather destroying her gardens of precious materials. Replacement quantities of a select few would likely make her more amicable to your requests for an audience.

(Sky rolled up 3 for the encounter so I will go with that).

Hehe.. Gav walked slowly down the street, having drunk his fill and pinched some girls. He liked Shola. He had lodging and food at the University, and the small pocket change he got from the dean, so he finaly could relax his way, while the work looked promising...

Something flashed across his vision. Small figure, white hair. Oh nonononono, he is not sticking around for her...

Gavin saw Eurika, and tries to flee to the Univesity.

Eurika whirled around, and saw a familiar person running away.

'Huh ... so apparently he's not that used to blending in.'

She sprinted after him.

"Wait! I've been looking for you, and for reasons that aren't related to killing you!"

Run after him.

(("Killing you is just a bonus!"))

[44,16]

Gavin manages to make it out of the tavern, barely. About halfway to the University Eurika loses sight of Gavin - who makes it around a corner before colliding with a City Guardsman

"Whats the rush little man?"

Eurika stopped, looking around.

"Eh... where'd he go?"
she asked no-one in particular.

Dang.

She wandered around, hoping to sight him by coincidence. It's not like she had much better to do on this hot summer day.

Good thing she had ditched her robe and armor for something more cooler, too - she would probably have been cooked whole in this sun. She did still have her pack and assorted weapons.

"Goddamnit"... Gavin crashed into the guardsman, falling on the ground. He stood up, a bit sore, but nevertheless happy to be out of sight. Or maybe she was still chasing him?

He looked around quickly, and to his relief she was nowhee to be seen. He then started apologising ot the guard, explaining his position as a researcher and that he was chased by someone unpleasant.
Either way it would be better if he went back to his quarters for now. But how the hell did she know he was here? Was she tracking him? could she detect magic>? Or magy she was some sort of mage hunter? More terrible and crazy thought started occupying Gav's mind as he tried to explain her presence in Polca.

Go back to University and stay out of sight for the next couple of days.
