Terryn scratched his scruff. "Donald."

He turned back to William once more, placing his good hand on the desk top and drumming his fingers. "I noticed you've a bottle of whiskey, Will. Care to share?"

"Of course...Although this probably won't be enough for three people...I'll send for more."

"And I really thought something interesting would happen, when you two noticed each other...Hey Eurika, want to drink with us?"

"...Sure, why not?"

She came closer, and drew a chair up.

"The baronnes is a loose end. Letting her alive means allowing her to fight another day if she decides to attack our borders, and even if she no longer makes any hostile action, our neighbors will see it as a ligorian defeat. I say, we burn her out. The forest fire should be easy to see from far away. If innocents are still hiding in the forest, they will have time to escape - like De Plume's bandits. We are not trying to burn anyone alive, we're simply trying to take away their ability to hide from our forces. We do not need to burn down every forest in the peninsula, only the woods in the lands of the nobles around Vale. Once that's done, De Plume will either have to face us in battle, or leave the peninsula - she cannot defy Mileth's strength or Shola's 'specialists' with her bandits."

Kathos stopped a moment, looking at the maps.

"Alright. Two questions : Sir August, are you going to join Alaria at the borders, and Alaria, how much regiments do you think you will need to lead this operation?"

Sir August bows his head towards you cordially "I presume that my regiment and myself will be of greatest use out in the field preventing ambush by De Plume's forces. As such I shall join the border campaign."

Alaria says, quite simply "All but two. Overwhelm."

Lan considered her options as she returned to her men. There was a Mercenary hub of some kind in Ligoria, but nobody she asked had any idea on what it was. She would have to ask the Merchants when she returns to them.

In the meantime, inquire about prices of any free land in or near Ligoria.

Wait out the rest of the week, preferably enjoying the scenic views and places that Ligoria Talama can offer.

Then report back to the Storm Coast Merchant Guild for the next trip.

"Very well. I'll recruit new forces to assure city protection while you are at the border, and to send to Polca, should the city need reinforcements. You and your troops will be leaving on the first day of summer. That will give you six months in the field before winter falls. If you manage to eliminate the bandit threat and unite the nobles under our banner before winter, I suggest that you leave two or three regiments there to defend the borderlands before you return to Talama. That will be all for now."

Final orders for the season: ((Some of those might have been mentionned earlier; I'm just putting it all in one place for the GMs))

Train Swordsmanship for the season
Upgrade Wine business to size 3 (-4d) and produce an additionnal good (-1d) using personnal wealth. 2.6 ducats remaining

Using the treasury:
Upgrade current PG regiment with Heavy II (-2d)
Recruit a new PG regiment with the upgrades Heavy III, Cavalry (-8d)
Recruit two new regiments with the upgrades Heavy I, Watchman (-3d)
Build three ships in the port (-3d)
Recruit three scholars for the university (-6d)
Cancel the recruitment of the three spies I mentionned earlier
Remaining funds in the treasury: 31.47d - 22d = 9.47d

On the first day of summer, Alaria will leave for the border with all ligorian regiments, save for the two Heavy Infantry Centuria/Cohorts, the regiments that are currently being recruited and Kathos' personnal guard.

Events needing address
Polca to Aching: Buy pigs (Full Cargo)
-Aching, and the rest of Groan by extention, have decided to facilitate the expansion of their empire. Food and Staple goods within the Republic are being conserved and distributed into a new settlement. Where is quie a mystery as they won't speak of it to the -numerous- angry Merchants.

Polca to Veruna: Sell Glass (Full Cargo)
-Political tensions in Veruna and the constant threat of Civil War througout the Old Motavi Empire have caused a cancellation of all imports of a luxury manner. A new good and/or an attempt to smuggle the goods in for sale will be required before this leg of the route can be completed

SHOULD be all accounted for

"Hey, I've just come back from Polca, It can't be worse than an all out massacre by the town's own lord, right? hehe... Well, thank you again for your gracious offer. Right, off we go!"

"Seth" set off with the servant on the tour of the University

Cain smiles when you say 'It can't be worse' and you set off with your Guide

The university grounds are well kept and beautifully designed. You're brought to a modest sized lab that appears to not have been used in a number of seasons if the layers of dust are to be believed.

"The previous Scholars assigned to this wing of the grounds we attempting to use several species of fungus to create a miasma that would cause dellusions and unconciousness - turns out they simply created death. Too a while for the fumes to clear - should be fine now...still smells like horse shit though. I'd advise leaving the windows open for a few days" He turned to leave and stopped at the door briefly, "Should you require assistance, just locate a steward of the grounds. They'll point you in the direction of anything you might require"

Fix the damage in Polca. Upgrade the Crimson Guard with Heavy Two, if I do have that many ducats.

1d spent to repair
2d spent to upgrade

4.7d remains

A local is dumbfounded, "Free land? In what regard? Land is owned by the Lords, Kings or other leaders of every nation. Land is awarded to those who provide a great service to the nation. It cannot simply be bought. What sort of land do ye hail from that you can buy your land? I'd love to see such an awkward place. Bandits must pillage and live like kings without a royal army to defend the lands"

You take in the sights, inlcuding the former Arena, over the week and report to the Merchants you were working with before. Many have set out already into various direction, but the merchant you hired on with previously is packing up the last of the caravan for the Journey.

"Ready to go? Shouldn't be too bad a trip. I can't say much about where we're headed until after we've left Ligoria proper, but the pay should be worth it for you and your men"

Bloody hell... Place seemed suitable for work, although alchemy was not in his mind. He did take care to clean it up and ventialte it properly though.

It was weird though that Cain offerd him a place, but did not demand anything immidiately. The man simply preferred to wait until someone comes up with something by thew way of their research.
What would happen to an idle man such as Gav however? There is no way that anyone would check up on him or control his work, and he could ask for some small money to purchase "ingridients" like alcohol for himself.

Or... he could work for real. He shuddered at the thought. He did want to resolve the power problem he had, and either finding a huge source of energy or amplifying his own would work. But he wasn't a hard worker type. A bit of work interlaced with bit of drinking and whoring would do fine.

Search university library for general knowledge on wizardry and on soul energy. If no books are found ask steward for help in aquiring them. Practice resolution aspect in the confines of the lab. (-1 to training due to Gavin drinking, whoring and hanging around town; anyone visitng Polca has a chance of meeting him - roll for encounter)
(OOC: Since this involves training, feel free to treat this as the first action for summer.

End of season Catch up:

Train Swordsmanship for the season

[34313] - Gain 30pts

With the Merchant
"I'm ready to go and guard you from whatever may strike at us. Do you know any mercenary companies out there?"

"There are a few. Galam is basically a mercenary nation, the Black Company is a well-known group of mercenaries with high prices but exceedingly trained men for their price. Aside from that, I don't know too many myself. There's lots of groups like yourself that offer their services, technically anyone with troops and a price for hire is a mercenary"

You all head north out of Ligoria, by passing Mileth and Shola entirely. They estimate arrival by early Summer.

It is now Summer...
[5] And a good summer it should be. Weather has been milder than normal and the spring storms have ended early this year. Naval crews all over the coast rejoice at the calm seas and strong winds they've been seeing.

Ligoria's woes of a lost leader have dulled a bit. People are still tense over the lack of real concrete evidence of the events, but the continued efforts of Lord Thunderblade to continue the campaign Nikephoros started against Lady de Plume are seen as an honor to his memory and a reminder that the world keeps spinning despite tragedy.

The Republic of Groaning has begun to cut much of their exports in an effort to expand their own domain. Reports of where they're headed are few and far between - and unreliable at best. Time will tell what they've been working towards. It is, however, seen as a reaction to the Motavi tensions. Much of their export has been into the Motavi region, and with the in-fighting a sharp word away from erupting, Groaning wants to have nothing to do with the possible war and have a better position to stand against the results of such an incident.

Train [Charisma] or [Swordsmanship] (if Charisma doesn't work as a trainable skill)

In Shola, randomly wander around, sightseeing. What sights, exactly, she had absolutely no idea of. Maybe the library, if there is a big, central one.

((Also, please do roll a random encounter chance with Gavin. Or maybe Ardas could deliberately meet with...))

Also, with Laythe's permission, order Laythe's engineers to start production of gunpowder.

Load up all regiments onto the ships, as well as all support staff and everything else. Trade route is to be stopped for this. Destination is Shola.

-Have the Thornbred, in groups of three and dressed in unadorned armor (so as to make it harder to identify them), begin to canvass the city in search of anyone openly speaking dissent against the current state of affairs re: their ruler. They are to figure out where these people live.
-Send the spy to Fiumefurt, have him begin to embezzle funds.
