Eurika cautiously knocked on the door of William's study, before slowly opening it.

"Uh... you called?"

She notices Terryn and immediately starts backing out again.

"Oh! Um, if you're busy, I'll come again...at a more convenient time..."

"Fair enough," Terryn replied, leaning back and clasping his hands behind his head. "That will be about 2 ducats a season, then. How doe-"
He paused, glancing over to Eurika as she stepped into the room. Oswald, at his shoulder, visibly tensed.

Eurika paused. A movement caught her eyes, and she looked up straight at Oswald.

"Hmm... I think I know you."

She takes one step into the office. She tries to not take an aggressive stance, not do anything that might suggest she would return the bullrush taken on her via pointy interest, and most of all not let her hand go to her dagger.

"I won't be able to pay until spring, so lets call it three or four. Just to make sure you don't burn down everything.

William finally notices Eurika.

"Oh hello Eurika...well now, this should be interesting."

He leaned back in his chair to watch the show.

On a completely unrelated note: William cancels the training of those four heavy/watchmen units.
William purchases three(3) base regiments of men and women. They all get the heavy unit one upgrade and the watchmen upgrade, and they begin training immediately. They receive the name of the Polcan Guard.(-7.5d)

Returns 5.3d
7.7d remaining

William get's an appraisal on the damage in Polca, uses the Heavy Tatical Crimson Guards((From now on known as Blooded Blades)) to patrol the city. The second unit of Crimson Guards((The ones who don't have heavy or tactical and to be known as Red Guard)) are to maintain the watch on the gates.

Total damages to Polca are round about [4] a ducat. Most of the damage has been cosmetic and can be repaired without much issue.

[34] All in all an uneventful day. A 9 yr old pickpocket was tossed to the Gaoler but nothing out of the ordinary.

William makes Terryn a Baronet and grants him William's other parcel in Ligoria. He must vow to defend it, and the tax he gets from it is to be considered salary for his and his regiment's continued work with William.

Also he sends a letter to Vasir asking the rates on loans for Nations.

-Terryn accepts.
-If possible, he then immediately sends a letter to his new Baronet informing the population of a raise in tax rates (Raising them to extortionate, for 3d/parcel/year)

Done and done, we'll see how the populace likes it come tax time. By Autumn, their grievance will be made known to Ligoria proper - as well as the change of 'command'

Spoiler: Assets (click to show/hide)

They then inquire from some of the townspeople about any place that deals with hiring extra 'help'. Infantry regiments and such.

Also, on the status of Polca and it's relation with the neighboring cities.

[1,21] Work is slim, but there's apparently some business that started up in Ligoria recently with an aim to provide support of a mercenary nature. Whether they're looking for help is a mystery, as is the location of their operations as far as anyone you asked was concerned.

The general populace of Ligoria is lacking on much information regarding Polca beyond that it's recently become a sort of Duchy of Ligoria. Relations with neighbors lines up mostly with a loose association to Shola, and a semi-hostile glare of sorts from Mileth due to some debaucle in the recent past.

"Well, for starters I am a first-hand witness of the events that occured there. Secondly, I had the pleasure of meeting the clumsy William personally. And I can with large degree of certainty say that the man is responsible for his own downfall. As for myself, I am a man that can help with more or less anything that you require, for the right payment of course."

He looked mischievously at the man.

"Lets say that I have special talent that allows me shape reality to a degree that few, if any mortals can. You might not be a big fan of gods, but strange things do happen if you wish for them...."

[56] Cain seem genuinely surprised at your cander, as well as your apparently talents, but he doesn't buy the 'shaping reality' bit and calls you a duck from the sound of your quack.

"That would likely make you a mage then. While yes, in the Coast at least, your talents are quite rare - in the open at least - as far as the world is concerned, however, you're not as special as you'd like to believe. Your talents are actually quite a cause for alarm in the Coast given the religious tensions against them. As you said, I'm not a religious man, but I know where to lay respect where it belongs. A question though - If you could, raise your sleeves. I'd like to see your wrists." He smiles, "I'm not going to bind you, just curious..."

Also, order the raising of one personal guard regiment at my parcel of land.

You'll have a basic regiment ready by summer

Fix the damage in Polca. Upgrade the Crimson Guard with Heavy Two, if I do have that many ducats.

My wrists? "Seth" was bit surprised by the request, but he had nothing to hide there.
"Here you go."
He raised his sleeves and showed his wrists to Cain, revealing nothing but smooth, pale skin.

"I'm not a big fan of tatoos, and I'm not that old to be needing bloodletting or leeches."

"Probably." Terryn replied on Oswald's behalf, a hint of boredom seeping into his voice. "One of us would've had to kill you, if Duncan hadn't knocked you down."

He shrugged, and turned back to William. "Three or four will do just fine, Will."

"Well, I know for sure that William made a huge mess out of his lordship. People hate his guts after the massacre, and apparently someone got injured. One of his guests or something.
Also, its possible he might be employing someone of similar talents to mine, since William and his female servants knew who I was or what could I do, although I never revealed anything explicit to them. Either they were warned in advance or he had some on-hand expertise.

"
"Seth" took a seat in one of the chairs.

"I suppose you could use someone like me perhaps? I must say that practicing  my "talents" is nigh impossible in this enviroment and materials for learning and researtch have to be either uncovered in the coast, far and few between they are, or sourced from North, although I know bugger all about who lives there or what do they do. I know for fact that most of the mateirals I've had contact with was from there."

"Now, to the crux of my proposal. Your patronage and protection for me in exchange for my service I could show you what I can if you want. What do you say?

"Now, to the crux of my proposal. Your patronage and protection for me in exchange for my service I could show you what I can if you want. What do you say?

[324]

Cain looked the man over for a few moments, "Talent is a commodity I'm always looking for. I'm not sure what you know of what we do here in Shola in terms of the services we provide to other nations, but you could say we're a lot like Galam in so much as a 'for hire' type of service. We just generally use diplomats in place of regiments, mighty pens and such." He flipped through a few pages on his deck and found a mostly blank form to hand to 'Seth'.

"The University here has ample space and facilities that could be bent to use in practice such as yours. There are a few standards I apply to any I employ. Much of what is done behind closed doors in Shola is intentionally left a mystery to the other nations. Mysteries that are rarely investigated and most often accepted because of the results that are supplied." He laughs a little, "There's little secret that Shola has always been more than it appeared, and it has gotten remarkably harder to maintain the facade of simple academics here. Frankly, I've grown to care less and less over the years. You're welcome to stay with us and make use of the facilities in the university - I can have arrangements made to provide space for you. The form is simple - name and other minor information. I do like to know who I'm working with before anything, and you have no need to divulge anything to anyone but myself. I care not what names and history a person uses, but the truth is all I require"

"Should you choose to accept the hospitality of Shola, your only real requirement will be to at least try not to cause trouble as well as assist other members of the University and a select few townsfolk should they need your talents. Few will likely ask for your assistance, especially since doing so will cause them to owe you a favor in return." Cain just smiles before continuing, "And we all know how the favors of a Mage can go poorly for everyone involved."

Favours of a mage, haha, yeah... "Seth" smiled weakly and took the form. The name he used right now suited him just fine, so he put that down. Next he wrote simply about his real wizard training with the old Ulrik in Fiumefurt, but ommited the part where he robbed the old man after a disagreement.

Then the main part. He described his powers as a mage.  Soul Energy an life forces of others.... channeling of energy and bending it to the desired task... There. Compared to Ulrik, Gavin was a novice and he did most of his wizardry by way of brutally forcing of energy to bend to his will rather than using set, graceful formulas that are found in spellbooks. Given that Gavin never managed to get that far in his training in Fiumefurt, he was looking forward to aquiring a textbook and finishing off his education by himself.  Maybe something interesting could be found in one of them...

He sigend the form at the bottom.
"Here you go. I am at your service now. Is there anything you would want me to do? If not then I would like to take a tour around the that university of yours. Can I ask about pay your "scholars" receive?"

Cain skimmed the page real quick, "Heh, yeah...we'll keep you away from the students for a while...no unexpecting volunteers for you." He was, however, perplexed as to why anyone would ask about the scholars in such a tone, "They really are scholars for the majority, many are happier than corn in manure to sit and study and experiment for food and shelter. Give a curious man the time and supplies to do as he pleases and often it returns profit in some form - or they blow themselves up." Cain coughed, "That's only happened a few times though..."

Amused Cain called for an assistant, "Dol here will be your guide and will show you around. Before you leave, in regards to several areas of the University - you will be restricted from entry. Many a bright idea has ended with a pine box for distrubing the work in the restricted areas of the University. At some point you might have your own lab in such a place, but for your own safety you might want to avoid the work - and the workers for that matter. Some of them get rather grumpy..."

"Hey, I've just come back from Polca, It can't be worse than an all out massacre by the town's own lord, right? hehe... Well, thank you again for your gracious offer. Right, off we go!"

"Seth" set off with the servant on the tour of the University

Eurika shrugged.

"Perhaps. What was the name of the person who bullrushed me, again? Ian?"
