The Guard accepts Gavin's story and allows him to run off without any other questions. Eurika will happen across the Guard as well, several blocks along his route from where he met Gavin. He seems to be searching for someone.

[4?] Apparently the Guard doesn't find Eurika seemingly unpleasant, nor does he apparently assume she's the one Gavin was running from - but he's paranoid by nature. The Guard informs you that a man matching the description you gave started working at the university recently. He'll accompany you there - whether you like it or not.

[3] You both arrive at the University, the Guard has a short chat with the Steward who accompanies you both to Gavin's lab...

Yes , what is it... Gavin was sitting at a table, browsing through one of the smaller books he has found.

"Gah, what is she doing here?! Good lord, why are you following me?"

Gavin stood up and walked up to the dean. "Sir, please get her away from me. She is an agent of a foreign lord and she has been following me all the way here from Polca. I don't know what she wants, but the last time I saw her was not pleasant."

-Have the spy head to Ligoria. Ian, who was present in Terryn's meeting with Gavin, will go there to meet him with another Thornbred soldier. They are to find a man who looks similar to Gavin, and is preferably homeless or otherwise will not be missed, (and potentially from Terryn's parcel of land, though this is not a requirement) and abduct him. Ian and the Thornbred will return to Polca, with the captive in tow, separately from the Spy.

-Several days after this, the Spy is to travel to Polca as well. He will play the role of a Polcan citizen who has been travelling abroad, perhaps a distant relative of one of the families that was wiped out during the massacre (so nobody is around to say he isn't), and infiltrate and ingratiate himself with the dissenters. If possible, his cover story should involve spending time at an institute of learning somewhere.

"First of all, I have something important to tell you. Second, I did not follow you. Third, for the record, I never hurt you! And forth, uh, you don't understand how I operate!"

Eurika, Eurika, she sighed inwardly. That was one of your worst excuses ever. Or more like four in a row.

"Blah blah blah. You abducted me from my own bed and gave me over to that maniac! and I doubt that water and repeated punches are the most pleasant way to wake up."
He turned to dean once again

"Sir, please get her out of here. She will only cause trouble."

"Very well Hyte. I shall meet with Cain after I've started on some treatment for my wounds."

Hire the doctor and begin treatment, then attend the meeting with Cain.

Eurika said angrily,

"It seems your mental palate is so fine and so exquisite that it denies the fact that I helped you from being killed slash abducted slash mugged? Remember a certain tall scary man who kicked you out of the mortal realm? Remember the part where you started a mob and killed a bunch of people with your heaven forsaken lifesucking? Remember where you managed to somehow infuriate three people who could probably harm you easily? O, divine god-blessed "preacher", let's see where you are at when a random bandit pops out of the woods and stabs you thrice through the heart — I bet it won't be pretty."

Eurika started off as a retort but wandered off into something that resembled concern for Gavin.


Back at Laythe's place, Eurika started writing a letter to William.

I am in Shola now.
Never have I seen this big a city.
Felt is the main product of the marketplace. It seemed like
ample supplies of the raw materials needed for the gorgeous,
luxurious felt was amply available all around here.
Long-boats aren't really the best for travel, though.
1 long-boat probably costs and is manned by enough people for three
galleons, but is slower and more expensive, not to mention small.
Unless the transport ability is exponentially enhanced,
never will Shola be able to be renowned for its sights.
Polca, on the other hand, is often said to be the best town
off the north shore of the Storm Coast.
Where that reputation came from, I do not know.
Dangerous waters lie between Polca and Shola, and
ere the water rise up against man, this reputation ought to be
refuted and discouraged. The local food specialty,
'dumplings' are round blobs stuffed with meat.
On a steaming pot they are placed, and steamed.
No-one in this sorts know of them. That is bad.
Eventually, they will be known here too.

...Why did you encrypt that? It looks overly suspicious, like you're spying for me in Shola. And the code...wasn't very hard after an hours thought.

It was an exercise in cryptography.
Also, I don't think letting every man on the street know that some people are gathering gunpowder isn't the most prudent way to go about it.

Anyways, if you have the financial, temporal, and will to do it, would you please gather either engineers for gunpowder or engineers for metal casting.

Gavin was not taken in by the concern, which sounded more like an angry tirade to him. And he really did not care for most of his actions in Polca. He had a new visage to keep up, one of a scientist, and he really liked his free lunch in Shola...

"This is nonsense. Complete nonsense. I am trying to work here, under the protection and patronage of Lord Cain, and you come in with your crazy talk and try to tell me made up stories about preaching and bandits. why are ou here? Because if you have nothing better to do than bother working people then I will be forced to file a complaint! guard, please take the lady out, unless she tells me what she wants from me. Then take her out. "

He turned to the dean again. "I am really sorry about this sir, I'm just trying to work, I have no idea why is she here. She talks made up nonsense, trying to worm her way in. But I won't bother you with this anymore, guard will remove her once she is done with her babble."

Eurika narrowed her eyes at Gavin.

"Fine, Gavin Aurelius, so be it."

She pivoted and headed towards the door. Just before leaving, she added,

"... Take care,"

and left.


Back at Laythe's place, Eurika dashed out a quick letter to William.

Well, if he wasn't going to agree with her, might as well call down the thunder. Of course, she doubted that anyone currently had the ability to harm him significantly. Oh, well.
