I personally think we shouldn't build nothing on Gaia's soil unless it is for our own benefit, but we should give them a warning about increase solar activity and the possibility of a solar flare. These "terrorists" can simply be people held against their will for leaving to have their own life without technology. We are simply acting on too little information right now to make any decisions. Right now we should say nothing about this incident because even a single acknowledgement can be made as a rallying call if it is a terrorist cell.

Any more thoughts? If this stays dormant for a bit longer, I'll be posting a turn in a day or two. Also, I must agree that I really couldn't read the yellow colored text a few posts back.

You can read illegible text if you highlight it; drag a box around it with the left mouse button, basically.

I agree with everything you've just said.

I would ask why fire can burn two men to death without getting hot enough to burn a book, but then I read "INEXTINGUISHABLE RUNNING KAMIKAZE RADIOACTIVE FLAMING ZOMBIE" and realized that logic, reason, and physics are all occupied with crying in the corner right now.

Adding to that.  The caverns on Shiva will be of as much use as a normal underground bunker. Problem is that solar flares occur in such a short time that we can't possibly get anyone from Gaia/ Aquarius to Shiva. Only if we're facing an prolonged period of severe solar storms would this be viable.

We should also stockpile electronics. Lots of them. The largest solar flare ever witnessed by mankind would have destroyed the majority of all electronics if it had occured in modern times.(Thank god it occured in the 1800, when the largest problem was people thinking the world was ending). I believe we already have an entire shelter system on Aries, Equiping them with magnetic shields might help.

We can try to bring our ship into low orbit if needed, but that can be dangerous. I propose that in case of a solar flare we power down the ship, switch to the bunker back-up then wipe the ship AI, and reinstall it from our copy. Mavens should be protected.

Another danger are the enormous amount of orbital stations we have hanging around. As far as I'm aware, all our space elevators(of which there are a lot, since each defense sattelite has one) use magnetics as stabilizers. Even worse, the cable is a giant conductor. This means that should the flare hit hard enough, all our thethered elevators will fail, and might even collapse. Another problem is that during a flare the upper athmosphere heats up and expands quite a bit. This might drag lower sattelites(defense network) out of their orbit and into the ground.

I therefore propose a 3 layered defense network.

Stage 1:  Modified Hydrogen scoopers which use their magnetic field to catch the brunt of the impact and deflect it away from our planets.
Stage 2:  Orbital defense. Equip everything with magnetical shields, and escape pods for the crew. Clean up defunct or non secureable sattelites.
Stage 3:  Bunkers, and suchlike.

I also want to instate 2 new things. Namely an early monitoring system for the sun, and a Spaceweather broadcast. Basically an advice system for spacetravellers. *

*Includes such things as damaged mass driver gates, possible meteor showers, docks that are overcapacity, and most importantly, solar flares. We should declare a potential flare alert, and warn all ships without adequate protection that they are travelling on their own risk. In order to prevent a stall of the economy, it might be wise to use several of our combat ships to escort civilian ships. Their shields should be able to whistand smaller flares and protect the civilians.

1. This mostly relies on the development of lightweight armour. This is also being priorized on due the danger of a flare.
2. I would just add the droppod as escape pods to all current vessels.
3. Since EMP= Flare proof.  I think we want those. Lets expand it to electronics though.
4.The addition of a cloning facility is certainly interesting. Were do we hide it.?
5. We have hydroponics systems for a long time already. I mean, there are giant farms in orbit. ((Oh crap, another thing that can blow up.))

Also, I'm now commenting in white. Better?

Will Aerotransmission be effected by these solar flares? Also for Hephaestus I think we should probably make the research areas more autonomous and robust with plenty of fall back just in case another explosion happens.

The transmission itself should go relatively untouched, but their might be problems with the transmitters and the recievers.

What if the Moonie "ambassadors" are not actual authorized ambassadors from their government! They could be anyone! Saboteurs, rebels, a whole different set of aliens, pink slug people who want to infest our brains!!! Who knows!?!

We should send a message to the Moonies saying that we've received their ambassadors, and see what their response is. If they are confused or anything, and say they never sent any, then we should arrest the "ambassadors" and keep them very carefully contained, preferably away from any humans.

2. I would just add the droppod as escape pods to all current vessels.  cargo is nice too... and also, whats the plan if we cant land shuttles to land troops? or for spaces where shuttles are much to large?

4.The addition of a cloning facility is certainly interesting. Were do we hide it.? ice planet, in the caverns.
5. We have hydroponics systems for a long time already. I mean, there are giant farms in orbit. ((Oh crap, another thing that can blow up.)) exactly

After all the research is complete and resources is less strained I think we should design better sensors. Also at the end of the year we should throw some type of festival, maybe a film festival showing films about AI and human working together.

Moonies

The Moonies like Urist McDwarfFortress said could be anything since we hardly seen them yet. But it would be interesting to see them escaping a fascist government and are asking for asylum from us.

Name one film with humans and Ai working together that doesn't end badly.

I am not talking about our movies that exist today, plus there must be some type of movie that exist within our data banks.

AI are affiliated with artificial life which is affiliated with Frakenstien the monster, so I doubt there are many pro AI films
