The Exalt really take their time getting lasers. If you're progressing through the game at any sort of proper rate, they won't have them in time for the surprise attack.

Just about at the end of my first playthrough (on Normal) on Enemy Within. It's early August, I've finished research on just about everything, I've got a Firestorm armed with an EMP Cannon on every continent, and I'm ready to construct the Gollop Chamber once I excavate some space. Around eight or so Colonels, and alot of Majors. Enough plasma weaponry to go around, although I haven't bothered making any Ghost or Archangel armors yet. They're pricy.

I've also finished Slingshot, but have yet to do the last mission for Progeny. EXALT isn't quite done yet, but I'll probably be able to raid their base by the end of the month. Anything left I should be worried about?

EXALT never attack your base. And they usually have the lasers by the time you're the one doing the surprise.

Odd.  Like umiman, I didn't get EXALTs with lasers until just around the same time, if not after the base defense mission.  I certainly didn't receive enough weapons from their missions to reequip my team with lasers in time for the surprise, even if I hadn't skipped lasers and gone straight to plasma weaponry.  That was on Classic mode, mind you, so it might be different on Impossible.

No, I mean that you rarely have EXALT still with ballistics by the time you're raiding their HQ. The base defense mission usually comes much, much earlier for me, and I usually have at least some Laser weapons by then.

I was talking about the surprise attack on XCOM HQ by the aliens. Aka the subject of what everyone was talking about.

So what does it matter whether the Exalt have lasers by the time the aliens attack your base? ???

Unless you mean kitting your soldiers out with their weaponry. I actually saved some resources on Laser Snipers and Heavy Lasers last playthrough. ^_^

Reading comprehension is one thing.

This, however -
The Exalt really take their time getting lasers. If you're progressing through the game at any sort of proper rate, they won't have them in time for the surprise attack.
- implies that the EXALT would have the weapons in time for their attack, since you getting those weapons is not mentioned. Even with the other posts providing context, it's hard to see what you mean. Especially since the only post leading up to the idea of equipping your soldiers with EXALT laser weapons is this:
You guys have exhalt making you guns for a reason. Unless you've been selling them all.

Yes, but the second post came immediately after the first post.  "Surprise attack" in that post referred to the player/X-COM being taken by surprise, and was not intended to be an entirely new thread conversation chain on the idea of EXALT being taken by surprise; it followed immediately from KingBacon's comments on using EXALT to arm X-COM against the surprise alien attack.  It does so in much the same way that this post comes after your post and can be read as a reply to you, even though I don't repeat the content of your post in a quote tag.  I can understand why you were confused, though, since that term could reasonably be used in either way to refer to either the base defense or EXALT attack missions.

Really, though, is this something to argue over?  There was a misunderstanding, and it was resolved.  I do not believe there is a need to carry on any further, especially since it seems that some take it more seriously then others.  I especially do not believe it is just cause to make insulting insinuations regarding other posters' intellectual capacity by suggesting they go back to primary school.  It's not like it was a misunderstanding that was completely impossible to comprehend, after all.

I'm surprised you figured out I wanted him to go back to primary school.

I mean, I did google search "elementary school enrolment" but the resulting page I linked was general enrolment for all schools and universities for Ontario.
