Less Slayer and more Breakfast Club than we wanted, but at least I sorted that part out.

Let me help out a bit there.

then we ended up with regions that rain rodent man blood, which isn't as good as raining human or dwarven blood

Tell me there's not a value system for blood!

This sounds like it has the potential to baloon into new vistas of complication and require additional world-engine overhauls.

For example:

  • what happens to the water tables where non-water things are raining from the sky?
  • what happens to the pools that refill during the rain?
  • Can you now have fluid depths of things other than water?
  • can you drain enough cats to make actual cat-blood pools?
  • is the aquifir non-watery also?
  • do you then need to track the flow of the non-aqua aquifirs, and how they interact with other bodies of water downhill?
  • presumably flora and fauna that require water cant survive here?
  • what happens when a river of blood merges with a river of (whatever) somewhere down the line?
  • OMGWTFoceansBBQ?

anyway, it seems like an ambitious feature.  Now I just need to deicide if I'm imagining MasterMorality's lyric being sung by Tom Araya or Tori Amos...

Right now, it's pretty clear that the material rains are just "contaminants"--like liquid breath (if that worked--do liquid breath attacks still shoot a solid glob instead?) but coming from the sky, so it won't be a true fluid, just a "spattering of ___" on things.  Chances are it won't even generate much ground-spatter, because that would be hellish on the FPS and make Terrifying regions truly Terrifying for all the wrong reasons...

I know the answers to some of those questions.
what happens to the water tables where non-water things are raining from the sky?
Bodies of water have contaminants in them.
Quote
Can you now have fluid depths of things other than water?
Nope.
Quote
can you drain enough cats to make actual cat-blood pools?
Nope.
Quote
is the aquifir non-watery also?
Nope.
Quote
do you then need to track the flow of the non-aqua aquifirs, and how they interact with other bodies of water downhill?
Nope.
Quote
presumably flora and fauna that require water cant survive here?
Nothing requires water as the game currently is. But looking at real-world biology, blood should have a suitable water content for most things, the harder part would be eliminating contaminants. This might result in creatures which excrete coagulant.
Quote

There are no rivers of blood. The only way Toady could make rivers of blood in a non-massive way would be to make water pretend to be blood while in sufficiently evil locations, in which case it would cease to be blood upon egress.

OMGWTFoceansBBQ?
Nope.

I can just see a biome where the creatures have all adapted to using the blood rain as a source of water/nutrition somehow.

It's not a pretty mental image, mind.

I'm curious what the barely conscious ai wrote about.
Well that went better than expected.  He went nuts and punched a rabbit to death, then the dogs and the whole dining hall ripped him to shreds.

The new evil regions sound, well, terrifying, and make me think of Poltergeist when I'll be embarking.  Hopefully we'll have holy water as well as axes to combat the evil...
