I'm not sure what this is, but it's vaguely spiritual.

hmmmmmmmmmmmm

not sure if should torture for godlike art or cheer up in order to not be a terrible person

In any case, you're understating your own ability, because realistic-looking faces are NOT easy to pull off. Making something that registers as a face is utterly trivial (for people without impaired facial recognition) due to our hardcoding (as a lazy man looking to test the limits of leeway i can confirm that i have found a LOT of leeway here), but making something that actually is a human face without interpretation is something else entirely. Honestly though, i wouldn't say i'm overly surprised to see this level of quality from you, because i've seen your attention to detail in action before. :v

No need to, I am already miserable as fuck.

For some reason your stuff has always reminded me of Stand Still. Stay Silent for some reason. :v
Also, I suppose you're using a tablet or something for it, right?

EDIT:
EDIT2:
Nobody gives a fuck about this thread apparently.
Give ideas if you happen to end up here, though.

I visit this thread regularly to gaze upon the shinies. I would comment more, but I know nothing about art so I can't critique, and it would get a bit repetitive to keep saying "that's flippin' beautiful" to everyone every day.

Mega feedback post:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The completely hard horizon being so close to the bug's head is confusing - maybe if it wasn't a perfectly straight line. The cloud writing is kinda noisy and difficult to read, but I can't suggest a solution.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I, uh, have no idea what I'm looking at here. Looks pretty knife though.

Perspective snip.

You've used a significantly higher angle than Hugo did. I think his (lack of) perspective is acceptable in the style, since it doesn't detract from the appearance and its effect would be subtle the way it's set up.

Also, Hugo, I like the gradient. I think they liven it up really nicely.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Far from the worst! It's proportioned fairly decently, except that as noted the legs should probably be a bit longer. It catches most people - they're longer than they seem.

For practicing drawing people, I highly recommend posemaniacs.com and their 30 second sketches. It's incredibly good for learning how to sketch out a reasonably accurate figure quickly, and I find that doing a bunch of low-quality sketches is much more helpful than doing one sketch that takes far longer but looks better.

Don't be discouraged if you a) don't finish the sketch or b) think it looks nothing like the original. Just keep grinding and you will eventually git gud.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Not sure what you were going for, but within the constraints of a Paint-like medium it's decent! Presumably you are aware that faces aren't usually that flat. :P

Also difficult to tell if he/she/it has arms.

I like the clouds and background.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I like the expressions. Expressive without being ridiculous.

Not generally super good at critiquing comic styles, but Merc's face would probably have benefited disproportionately (compared to the rest of the image) from some clean-up.

Super impressive stuff! Second from the left guardsperson seems to have an issue with their head sloping steeply backwards from their eyes, but it's otherwise very good.

Frost aliums

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I like it. The accents on the gun are a bit conspicuously square, which looks kind of odd. Maybe angle them a bit or add some very slight curves or something? Otherwise it's pretty cool!Hahahaha

He said the perspective was about at the chest.

Yep, and the person in your sketch is significantly taller than Hugo's, which is why your angle is too high. Your perspective is otherwise correct, though.

Also do note that in a stylized picture like that, choosing not to use much perspective is perfectly valid and if you ask me enhances the work.

I think this ended up being far creepier than I'd intended

Yes I do. I use a bamboo wacom for drawing digital stuff.

I wouldn't say my stuff resembles Minna's at all, her art is just so much better.

Thanks!

Yeah I think I rushed that one a bit too much, should have put more attention to the face.

I couldn't find a general programming thread on the first five pages so here's my latest project. It's going to be a forum game about pulling things through time and space to fight for you, Magic: The Gathering style, but in a strategy game. The most important part is that it's going to be semi-automated.
