Bah, its fine. Everything I wrote the past couple of days was crap in my eyes anyway. Not nearly good enough for presentation. Plus, it means I can go back to writing up a story line for the MLP:RTD I have been  working on.

WOW. :o

THIS. IS. spartaaa EVOLUTION VIII!  :P

I need time to write my plans, but the global idea is toward "try-to-communicate-and-make-peace-with-the-Zjelldursin" and "debates on the idea of a war on devourers, a sizeable part of the opinion being favourable."

Hmmmm.... paet of me wants to build up mt power in the Ratha and Clax and then have them combine to form a super civilzation but I also think that a war will garner a large amount of fear. I do know that I need to speak to my Clax and tell their goals or something....

If I may suggest a few terrain changes...

The southern continent is covered in jagged rocks, quite similar to the landscape of Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park. Also, the southern mountain range on the western continent is home to the largest mountains in the world.

A few terrain suggestions:

-Temples! Whenever someone builds a temple of notable size, there should be a little marker added onto the map. In my case, the only map-worthy temple is the giant coral spire at 20.11, but that may change. This also goes for the three  Praeclusium entrances as well, I imagine, and big cities like Odreploy.
-Trenches! Specifically, one extending from 11.14 to 05.06 or so. Similar to the marianas trench. This can be full of whatever exotic lifeforms you want, feeding off of chemicals, magma or even magic.
-The island centered on 15.17 appears to be a jungle of sorts. I recomend it being full of giant bamboo, giant bees that nest inside giant bamboo stalks and giant spiders that eat giant bees. Likewise with the similarly jungle-ish area around 20.15, except maybe a little lest giant-sized.
-The rest of the big southern island is a desert of sorts, it looks like. I'm not really sure what should be there. Maybe micelus's jagged rocks idea, that does admittedly sound pretty cool. Maybe make the whole island like that, but with trees poking out from between the rocks in the more forested parts.

Locations of Note:
17.09: First mioxed Retha-Calx settlement.
20.14: First landfall on southern isles.
20.11: First Temple of Niklas

Other Questions/Comments:
@Wimdit: How much EE do we get this turn?
@Sinpwn: How could the Calx enter the Praeclusium legitimately? I'm hoping you're not wanting writing or fire or something to get in, since the Calx have absolutely no use for writing and live under water, after all.
@mcclay: I'm personally partial to the mixed civilization idea, to be honest. I can't really find a legit excuse for the Calx to even notice the Retha yet, let alone attack them.

Haven't decided how much EP will be granted yet, and I do intend to mark important stuff on the maps after they're remade.

Keep the ideas on terrain coming. I'm thinking of trying to justify the terrain in terms of plate tectonics; I'll have to look into that.

For reference, this is what I mean by jagged rocks...

Slipping here is quite fatal.

Okay. I may or may not write it down correctly sometime in the future, but the Senate settled on one course of action:

-Study the bangellian thoroughly. We must know everything possible about them.
-Attempt to communicate and diplomacy, in order to part the world: mountains for us, plains for them.
-If they refuse, or attack us in any way that can't be an accident, retaliation will follow. Military plan on schedule.

Note: Senate count approximatively 200 dynasties today.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Maybe that will make it clearer. If not, then let me just say that some of these rocks break off very easily and happen to be sharp. On the bright side, think of all the strange life that would evolve in an area like this.

Grek, I think that those two islands are mostly shrubland instead of jungle (I think that the dark green tiles to the north of the Retha and east of the Crymits is jungle though). I am in favour of your other terrain ideas though. Regarding the mixed civilisation, the main stumbling block for the Retha is that they cannot make or receive radio waves, so from their point of view the Calx are just sitting there not doing anything.

There's a simple solution there:

The Retha don't communicate with the calx. They domesticate them. Instead of talking with the calx, they just herd the jellyfish over towards wherever they want them to grow, dig out irrigation trenches to keep them well watered and chop down any overhanging trees that block the light. In turn, they get walls that keep out all of the six-legged alligators and giant praying mantises or whatever else that stalks the swamps.

Or so they think, anyways. The calx would probably think of the Retha as yet another commensal animal that wants to hide inside the reefs and go along with it simply because Retha cities just so happen to be the best place to settle, without immediately realizing that Retha cities are the best place to settle because they're being engineered to be like that.

Eventually one will catch on that the other is intelligent, but I can easily see a multi-species civilization being established in this case before either species is aware the other isn't just another ignorable plant/animal.

six-legged alligators and giant praying mantises

This is canon. The swamp will never be the same again.
