I forgot one person I really shouldn't have and since we're all airing out our surprisingly pleasant smelling laundry in public I figured I'd say it here instead up editing my old post.

Vector for convincing me that yes, I can be crazy smart and crazy awesome and achieve everything I want to achieve, but I need to put in the effort. Also for convincing me to put in the effort. The skills you have, your intellect, your capacity and apparently boundless energy for just learning stuff and the fact that all that stuff is incredibly useful and cool have certainly had a big impact on shaping what I want to be when I get older.

I don't want to be you. That'd be weird. But if at some point I could look back and match a few of my accomplishments to yours then I'll know I'm doing something right.

possibly the sappiest thing I have ever written and I am so sorry

(I forgot to shut the lights off in the law library and will hear about it from the librarians, I know it.

This made me imagine Truean was a member of a team of Superhero Advocates, and every episode when they run into a mystery she shouts "To the lawbrary!"

It's been a 20 hour day so I will inevitably forget stuff. I apologize in advance

Deon, Petrix, Japa Modding, often for years.

The hundreds of people who sent me supportive emails when I came out as trans on Vector's thread. I expected the opposite. Thank you for proving me wrong.

Vector for:
-Providing me with a place where I could come out as trans without being run out on a rail, again. I truly do like that place.
-For personally sticking up for me to that effect to her own detriment at least three times I'm aware of.
-Putting up with the fact that I honestly don't understand the newer schools of thought and don't get them, as well as my inability to not think in set categories. (The last one is honestly an occupational hazard).
-Spending some of your sparse free time with me and being ok with who I really am.
-Meaning it when she tells me there's no reason to think of myself as a freak.
-Lots of other stuff.

Toady for: (In addition to the obvious DF)
-Reminding me that even if you are right for the wrong reasons, you're still wrong.
-Being rather nice to me.

Barbarossa TSG for:
-Putting up with my generally being so jaded I'm green.
-Being genuinely nice to me, despite said jadedness, and reminding me that people capable of that exist without ulterior motive.
-Believing in me when I simply fucking didn't and not letting that stand.
-"Truean: You stand for justice in a world rank with corruption and hypocrisy. A true hero of the Imperium." I'll be honest, I had to google the second part. Thank you. :)
-Lots of other stuff.

SalmonGod for:
-Being pretty awesome overall and actually listening.
-Being immensely civil about having many opposing views to me.
-Being one of the cooler straight guys I know concerning gays (at least me)

GlyphGryph for:
-Trying to give me awesome, helpful advice even though I was too prideful to listen at the time.
-Our numerous debates.
-A generally high level of awesomeness.

Aqizzar for
-Providing a sane sounding board that is sincere yet entertainingly snarky :)
-Being open minded, yet rationally skeptical.
-Having coherent arguments on the internet

sluissa for:
-Our PM conversations and debates.
-Listening to my various crap and actually caring.

MaximumZero for
-Providing awesome commentary to my posts that prove you actually give a damn.

MetalSlimeHunt for
-Being awesome in many ways

RedKing for
-The things you say, which typically seem to make sense to me as well informed with scattered awesomeness occasionally condensing into flash floods of yay....

Nilocy for:
-Having the courage I lack to be what she is and I actually am.

You know what, this is getting long and I don't want to start looking like a suckup. Also, I've got to get up in about four hours and prep for court so.... I have missed an absolute ton of people and I do feel bad for that. These just happened to be the ones who came to my sleep deprived mind, (I forgot to shut the lights off in the law library and will hear about it from the librarians, I know it. They gave me one simple routine task that I do every time I go there. I would screw it up.), in sleep deprived order.

You nominate Toady, but not Threetoe? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?!

So, just found this nice thread.

I am but a newbie to say anything important about any single person here. I've met and seen many people that truly changed my perspective on internet life and forums, Bay12 has one of the best, and friendliest forum base I've seen over my whole life on the internet. There is very little trolling, and even when threads often get derailed, someone pulls it back on.

And the fact that even if there are only two recognized moderators, this whole forum stays to be a clean and organized place in comparison to hundreds of others. Also, the maturity level here is astounding: simple humor and wit along with the common touch of insanity and snark is unique in itself.

So in short, I'd like to thank Everyone in these forums who I've met or not met. I truly feel at home here, even with my mistakes and flaws, many keep with it and offer friendly advice. I have much more to say but I think saying this much is enough, lest the impact be lessened.

Bay 12, this is legendary. Thanks to Toady One and Threetoe for making a great forum along with a great game. Its partly because of everything in here that I discovered I could write and draw! All of you are awesome.  :D

This is a nice place. Please amplify your relaxed state.

Here are some others:

GlyphGryph: For loving this community so much that he'd be willing to start a commune with us.

Duke: For being downright reasonable wherever I see you on this place. Never seen you angry, bro.

Wolfchild, CJ1145, Jervous, Org, tehstefan, and Robocorn: For joining in my wacky D&D campaign, teaching me how to DM properly.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that I am currently on year 2, stage 2 of this 5 year, 5 stage plan, and things are going swimmingly, aside from the fact that I do not believe anyone here will ever actually take me up on the offer. If necessary, though, I will start a commune of one.
(Technically 2, I'm married now)

And I'll follow his nomination for Duke, but for a completely different reason: the best art dumps.

Anyways, I did want to thank Truean before I go, for being the only person I've ever had a real conversation with through PM here, and with that happening more than once, and for making awesome posts that really touched me.

And finally, everyone who's contributed to one of my aborted suggestion games or RTDs. Thank you all!

I've been in a fair number of communities I figure, from the cesspools of hateful camaraderie to the pits of youth and bewilderment to the unity of opposition.

But here... it has some things which stand out in its favor... not listed in any particular order.
1. General population conveys an acceptable level of grammar.
2. Fairly intelligent and/or informed discussions with a number of viewpoints.
3. Similar interests in stuff.
4. Acceptable min/max levels of memes, trolling and sarcasm.
5. Population is tolerant of 'grimdark' themes thanks to entry level indoctrination.
6. Use of 'grimdark' themes in 'humorous' light is prevalent.
7. The significant lack of hate and intolerance, except when it comes to elves.
8. Higher minimal level of out-of-the-box competence in times of cooperation.
9. Ability to just lurk threads of interest without having to contribute to its health.
10. Fairly effective self policing with a fair hammer of annihilation when the situation calls for it.

I gotta say, I do not hate this place.

even when threads often get derailed, someone pulls it back on.
Or the derail becomes a entirely different thread. (Or sudden topic changes are the point of the thread, like the Happy/sad/RAGE ones)

Also, thanks to Girlinhat for the chainmail thread, and making me interested in making some.

:P There's less shouting but sure. :) They have decided to give me numerous books they would otherwise throw out. We're talking 2010 editions here, so those books go for hundreds of dollars online. :)

Well, in addition to being incredibly tired, which I apologized for in advance while saying I would forget things, I've never talked to Threetoe. I'm sure he's awesome, etc. I also only nominated Toady in passing for the DF stuff, because, as I said, it really does go without saying.

To name just a few;

ToonyMan
for providing info on basically everything in the anime thread. Because of you I learned of many of the shows I love.

Duke for the amazing art dumps and the time he must spend finding and arranging all of that.

Aqizzar for being a level head no matter what is being discussed.

Janet, I said you were my hero years ago and it still stands.

Lord Dullard for his projects that have inspired me again and again.

Fault for his comic that has changed forever my mental image of what goblins in DF look like.

Cthulhu for being a source of amusement and a proper representative of his namesake.

Props to everyone in the MSPA and anime threads for being entertaining and interesting folk, and to the Occupy threadgoers for somehow keeping discussion to a civil level despite differences of opinion.

I've definitely missed some people but know that if I've seen you in the forum then I appreciate your input and contribution to what Bay12 is.

I love you, Bay12.  You help me feel better when my strange inferiority complex gets the best of me, and provide companionship, hugs, and cool derails, and good jokes, and... everything.  And it makes me happy to see other people helping each other out and being nice, too.

You guys are all the best.

I would like to thank you all for putting up with me, and this appears to be the opportune place to do so. So...uh...thanks.
Yeah, this. Me, too. I'm not the easiest person to get along with, yet people still seem to do just that.
