I've had this gamefor about a month now and i have a qustion concerning building. How do you build roofs? I want to construct prisons/stockpiles/housig OUTSIDE I now i'm supposed to put things in subteranian areas but i digress, HOW DO I BUILD A F***ING ROOF!

Go up one level, build a floor.

It keeps showing a message  saying "no acces to 3 building material non economic items.

There needs to be some way a dwarf can get up there, be it a ramp or a set of stairs. You can deconstruct those later.

Build an up/down stair.

When built, build an up/down stair on top of the previous one.

When built, build up your roof around the second UD stair.

If you don't want a central stair, then just build ramps at level Z and at side of your tower so your workers can access the level Z+1.

You can also build an auxiliary set of stairs in the wall itself, like this:

x=stairs

When you finish building that floor, deconstruct the stairs and substitute them with a wall. Walls create a floor tile above them. I use this for multiple floor buildings.
