I Need Catapult Ideas.

So, here I am, just got 4 legendary +5 catapult operators ready to shoot rocks at goblins just for the hell of it.  Aside from an arena, does anyone see a fun way to use dem on dis?

I was considering designing a little shack to the south with a few openings and a trench around it to keep them away, and connect it to my for via underground tunnels.

What do thou knowledgable dorfs think?

Your fort looks a lot neater then mine.

Also catapults suck, set up a ballista where that depot is (and move the depot) to fire down that corridor and perforate any who could make it through. Make sure you're using masterwork ballista parts for optimum accuracy (you'll need it because of the 1 wide shot).

Alternatively, make an arena which is a 1x1 pillar above a lake of magma. Dump a stack of gobbos on top, then shoot them off with rocks. Last one alive gets to live! And serve in your new zoo (of goblin champions).

I wanted to use catapults because rocks smashing faces is fun, but i'll try a ballista.

As for your other ideas, that's the best thing I have read in ages, and I will do it.  I would like a tutorial on water and lava manipulation sometime, as that's what I suck at.

As for my fort being 'neat' I'll get a screenshot of how messy it is inside.

Is it possible to use livestock as catapult ammunition (via modding or otherwise?)? I want to taunt my invaders some more!

I dunno, probably with DF being as modable as it is?  I'd rather fire buckets of magma.

Wait, so is this from the thread where we pondered the uses of catapults, which came from the thread about elves and why catapults are useless, which came from the thread about venting rage on captured cyclops, which came from the thread about failing to get cyclops's and goblins to fight? The Evolution of threads are strange indeed.

Still, I bet you could change the ammo of things in [ITEM_SIEGE_AMMO].....

I am beggining to think I should go do something, learn to edit videos, sound, photoshop.  Something to tear me away from learning DF or I am going to mess with these forums too much.  And yes, I may feel up to learning to mod DF, and I know exactly what I'm going to be shooting at those elves.  *cough*

The reason all my threads string together like this is, well, ideas lead to more ideas, and since I'm not too good at DF I figured someone would have an idea on how to put these (now 7 legendary +5) siege operators to use.

Unfortunately, no. The closest you could get would be to create a reaction that took a corpse and turned it into some type of corpse ballistae bolt. Overall siege weaponry is fairly well hardcoded at the moment, sadly.

If you think about it, a Titan corpse is pretty devastatingly heavy..... Would make catapults worthwhile. I think a cow meat catapult launcher would be feasible :)
