I honestly have no idea what is going on with all this pony stuff lately, my little brother really seems to like it though. But, like all things, it too, will pass.

Also, since it's common knowledge that I am secretly worshiped by everyone as their undeniable god and savior, you can rest assured that i am not, in fact, a brony.

To answer the original question: The first two episodes of the first season caught the attention of someone on /tg/, who presumably had a small daughter, and he made a thread. Then it moved to /co/, where it rightly belonged. Because it's a well-written show that fills a niche normally devoid of anything even close to decent, it took off like a storm. It's common on here likely because the place it originated is so close to here.

I'd recommend the show to anyone with extra time on their hands and a liking for light media, and in particular I'd say the first two episodes of each season are of relevance to anyone interested in worldbuilding and fantasy in general. Unfortunately, the fandom went to shit around the fourth episode and thus I wouldn't recommend hanging around pony threads or pony discussions.

yeah, the show is decent, but the memetic fandom ruined it for most who liked it for legitimate reasons. nowadays it's just a meme
