I name ALL my fortresses The Lonely Mountain. However, I ususally take the randomly generated group name and change it to something involving violence. I think the currently one is called "Boatmurdered".

After seeing that my Civ was called "The Expanded Throne", I called my guys "The Lost Guard" defending the only easy way through a mountain pass, the fortress name was "The Barricade".
Probably my best nameset.

Aside from that, I'm fond of calling my guys "The Old Guard".

That's pretty awesome, especially if you misread a 'u' in there. :3

On embark you can decide what name your civ has.

Do squad names count?

I currently have two marksdwarf squads with the names "Lush Nudes" and "Pregnant Embraces".  Some odd dwarves I have there.

For nonrandom, I've founded Darkabyss with the group the Long Beards.

I hope it manages to be epic.

Slowsound
Rosethorn
Ghostwheel
Frostcolumns
Earthspirits the Palace
Shaftdeep
Trumpetsoul

Are some of my more memorable forts and my group name is either a random one or The Bad Apples. Though sometimes I do name the group for what the forts goal is going to be.

I know, Tongs-Roughness of Entangling was one of the cooler ones...

The only other decent civ was named the Bothered Post or some shit like that.

Aceace the Ace Ace Ace-Ace of Aces. In dwarvish, Alakalak Alakalakalakalak Alak.

In all seriousness, I had a fort named Powerquakes, as well as one named Lanceruns. I thought those were pretty cool.

My newest fort was generated as 'Violenthalls'. Needless to say, I kept it.

Spoiler: Fort name (click to show/hide)

... I also found 'ere the giant tigers get hungry' funny.

Whoops, just realized this is a double post :/

I'm currently running a fort called "CopperDiamonds".  The first two things I run into?

Copper and Diamonds.

I once had the Sizzling Silvers (group) of Silvercomet (fort).  Naturally, the first squad was equipped with silver warhammers :).

Yeah I think that was one of my forts. There might've been an 'anus' in there somewhere, though.
