People have modded in cobalt glaze for ceramics, I believe.

I think it would be pretty to have deep blue cobalt glass:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobalt_glass like a lot of old bottles have.

Damn. Those are nice.

People have modded in cobalt glaze for ceramics, I believe.

Which would be wonderful! Any idea who/where?

Im all in favour of the idea of modding in uranium. Then refine it to plutonium in a...furnace. Then when you make a spiked ball trap they collide and EXPLODIFY THE GOBLINS

Is it even possible to make a certain metal volatile?

There's probably a way to make the gas/smoke be super thick and huge, and fill up everything. Like having 999999999999999 smoke density or something...

Actually the only way to get more smoke is to burn something bigger.

A custom hammer weapon could be made a bigger size than the boulder it's made from.  And I believe that the gaseous form could be given an inhaled syndrome...

I'd rather wait for curses, and make the hammer slowly mutate its wielder into some chemical nightmare.

How about a workshop that makes an object (Labeled "Nuclear Device", and is ludicrously big), then a 1x1 workshop to deploy said nuke. Have the workshop make a custom material with a fixed temperature of 999..., and that would set off the bomb.  8)

You'd have to sacrifice a dwarf to use it.  Unless you managed to get the heatdamage point specific and could utilize a delayed explosion.  Or design it so that magma running under the floor would overheat it.  And 999 temperature isn't that hot, honestly.
