Brier
Waking up, Brier is shocked that he is no longer in the kitchen. Feeling a bit groggy, he goes over the resources in the workshop. There's plenty of space used for storing materials to be used, such as wood groves, stone pits, boxes for metals and gems, the only problem is that there aren't many materials to work with. The only real resources other than what was brought is a bit of iron and silver that couldn't even fill the whole of the bottom of the smallest metal/gem box.
Regardless, this is what Brier would have to work with for the new Weave Cracker, so he'd just have to deal with it. Before he forgets, Brier puts the Weave Cracker v1 to work on the final storage in the kitchen. Speaking of which, there are two animal carcasses in the cold room, perhaps he should start prepping those for meals soon.
Getting back on task, Brier takes his time working on the design, and eventually reaches something that could work. Feeling that there's no real time to spare, Brier immediately puts the design to production. The treasure wood he doubts he'll see again soon is key. It can absorb mana easily and is water and fire resistant, so he can't waste any of it. Brier quickly separates what he'll allow himself from the pile, gathers some of the silver and iron, and begins working.
The first hour yields no results, but that's not enough to stop the inventor from working. The next few hours yield almost no hope, but in the final stretch of the design's construction, Brier pulls through and creates what he considers to be a masterpiece of magical security cracking. At least to the extent his design would allow. He makes sure nothing is out of place, and quickly makes sure it won't fall apart by knocking on points that seemed weak. Nothing breaks.
The new design is smaller, self powering, and doesn't require many materials to make. It has more complex parts and mechanics, but it's easier to maintain than the block of wood and scrap metal the machine used to be. It's also much quieter, giving peace to the elf. Proud of his work, Brier places it on the door in the back and eats a ration. He estimates it should be done by tomorrow morning.
Veranus Tigerclaw
Veranus wakes up, and the sudden realization that she had been eating her rations without much regard for intake hits her. She's going to have to hunt for game to survive now, and cooking is going to have to be done. How terrible a wandering mind can be sometimes. Heading off to the merchants to buy a new spear, Veranus notices that the hides she placed out to tan have finished, and quickly drags them back to her statue before someone else decided to take them.
Back at her original goal, Veranus greets the merchant leader and asks for a new spear within her price range. The man she has found to be quite humble despite his looks brings out a small collection of spears that all seem fairly well made and kept. Nothing in particular catches her eyes, but a spear she finds adequate for the job is decided upon. It costs a hefty 2g5s(250), but it's not as though she can't afford it. She thinks. Money management was never her ideal work, but there shouldn't be a problem with how much she has left.
Having finally found a spear of good enough quality, Veranus puts her old spear in the newly opened room the elf who occupied the kitchen was now using. She leaves for the forest and begins the hunt. For a while, nothing but large game Veranus had no intention of hunting appeared, but eventually a small mammal of some sort comes out. She jumps down and snaps its neck, not wanting to use a spear on an animal that could barely make a meal. As more show up, the huntress begins racking up a nice count, and has enough small mammals to last at least three days. The only problem is preparing them... Details, details.
As Veranus begins her return to the castle with her hunt in tow, a large beast pops out. She had seen beasts like these in her village in the physical realm, but never as large as this one. They were called ligers by merchants who passed through.
The liger is much larger than the two beasts she had hunted the other day, and she was in no position to fight with her spear not prepared, and her hunt weighing her down. As she begins her attempt to flee, she feels a pulse. The forest tells her to fight. Her body begins to burn with mana, an anomaly she had experienced in the physical realm twice. Once when she had killed the titans who had captured her, and again when she was traveling through the cave. Before she can recall what happened during those time, her vision goes black, and Veranus falls unconscious.
The elf awakes to the sight of the beast torn apart, and strewn throughout the forest. Not knowing what happened, she quickly gathers her belongings and returns to the castle in a state of shock. As she returns, she notes that the spear seems to have gained the Forest's Blessings. This was the first time she had seen one on a weapon outside of her village. Regardless, she throws the hunt into the area the inventor person showed her to, and goes back to her statue to rest a bit before doing anything else.
Forrel de Yahmiz
Forrel wakes up, and sees the merchant leader finishing a deal with Veranus. After waiting for the deal to end, he goes and informs the merchant leader that he'll go with him. He's told to be ready to leave by tomorrow morning, and that the excursion would last one week, at which point he will be returned to the castle, hopefully without being dead. He is also warned that if he ever strays from the group, death is a very real possibility, and a rescue attempt will only be made if it is known that he is safe. However, he will be given access to all wares to protect himself in case of an attack.
Having nothing more to do, Forrel spends the remainder of the morning gathering fruits and vegetables in the forest, and communicating with the spirits.
Cicatrix Greywood Greenflower/Ba'gandi Kashi
After a small talk with each other, Ba decides to forgo talking with the mercenary leader to help sacrifice some accursed merchants, and Cicatrix decides that Ba will be a part of her company on her visit to Cyrano tomorrow. Ba quickly stops by the workshop, where the deep elf is already hard at work, and finds a whetstone. He gives a slow, happy sharpening to the axe, and goes off to the gathering spot he was told about.
While Ba is busy sharpening his axe, Cicatrix gives a quick mutation to her drones, and they quickly begin producing silk. Although, she senses that it might be a bit too much, she has no time to deal with this bother, and gives Ba'gandi the signal to go ahead. She waits a small time, and tells the merchants that she is ready to go. Lying to them earlier would have given a great deal of suspicion, so most of what she told them was true, and any inconsistencies were covered by her blindness.
After a while, Ba reaches the shrine, and waits. He still didn't like the area at all. The shrine seems more eerie than usual. Like it's amused at something. Before he has the chance to run, Cicatrix arrives with the prey. The hapless merchants step up to the shrine and pull out a pair of swords. To Ba, the shrine appears to be smiling at the two, as though it knew something.
Having already prepared for the merchants only being out for the money, the two Runners begin their attack. The three zombie slaves rush the two merchants, who are better combatants than one would think. However, it's more likely that the corpse golems are simply morons that need to be exchanged for something better or upgraded somehow.
Ba enters the fight with his axe, the large instrument of death swinging quickly, claiming both legs of one of the merchants. Blood spills, and all goes quiet. Cicatrix orders the golems to retreat. When Ba fights, he can call upon an unholy rage that thrusts him into a mode of combat stealing control from him. This rage and his unwillingness to retreat were why he was called the Berserker.
He begins his assault on the second merchant. It lasts only a few seconds, but after the fight had ended, the merchants looked like nothing more than a bloody sack of potatoes. Something comes out of the shrine as Ba finishes off the first merchant.
It is a pale white humanoid with no real features. No face, no clothing, nothing. In one of its hands is a long, thin strip of a black metal with another, shorter piece of similar thinness crossed into it like a scythe. The figure absorbs the two merchant carcasses and walks up to Cicatrix who, like last time, can see again. The figure simply looks down at Cicatrix, then vanishes into thin air. Her sight is lost again, but the two at least know that there's something in the shrine. Ba also got to fight again after so long, so they both suppose the trip was worth it.
Cicatrix feels like she can call the being out of the shrine, but nothing more.
