"Pleased to meet, Sir Jementeten.

...Expedition? That sounds interesting. What lands do you hail from, if I may ask? I know little of life beyond our borders-to be fair, little of life beyond my own estate up until recently."

"I'am no sir, lady."

"All you need to know is that we've come from distant Hatcur. Telling you about the many nations and cities we hail from...would take much time. If I may ask, what is your business here? Why did you leave your estate?"

"Forgive my slight...I do not know how to properly address someone of your station. I have much to learn after all.

Ah, My business? I was assumed to have enjoyed some time at court away from my estate on vacation, experiencing new things and getting to know important persons-as some think a young highborn woman ought to before settling down...

But, the Queen saw fit to raise to a station of a Noble by having me swear fealty to her. Needless to say, my trip has become much more exciting...but, in truth, it's all a bit overwhelming for me!"

"Interesting, seems this queen of ours is quite generous. Well we really can't be standing here in our queen's palace now, can we? If you need me just ask for the Hatcuri Camp and we'll talk. Till then, farewell."

As Retcyl walked away, he had a feeling that the woman was hiding something....or lying. Probably both, well everyone had their plot and goal here...

The group you came in with has nothing for you, the caravan master seems to not trust your men won't kill him in his sleep. They do overhear another caravan leaving for Moun. It sounds lucrative, but they're pretty sure there's a good chance a fight will break out. Apparently there's a bandit group in the area that has been hitting caravans headed to Moun in particular. They're looking for all the help they can get. Minimum payment this time is 1d.

In the morning
Blurgh thought Kawakai as she rose from her deep slumber, it'd been a heavy night of drinking though not particularly much had happened, there was something about a roguish chap coming in who she thought quite attractive but that was all she could really remember after signing the contracts, with a sigh she pushed her way out of bed and decided to get together the raw materials for the ampheni's Rectyl wanted from the market, she would need: scrap iron, scrap copper, grape juice and old vases/pots.

Later that day
After returning to the inn later that afternoon it wasn't long before a messenger called for the hacturi "The queen is ready to give you an audience now.", bother thought Kawakai, she'd already sent that letter to the bank out of impatience, never mind she thought, afterall she could just talk a bunch of fluff and no damage would be done.

On the way she passed Rectyl to whom she gave a curt nod, I wonder what he was seeing the queen for this time. A short while later Kawakai was kneeling before the intimidating looking queen "As you know I'm part of the hacturi expedition to your justly-ruled city, I'm partially responsible for work on the embassy however by trade I am a mechanic, I came here so you may know my services are available to you and it would be a great honour to assist one such as yourself" Kawakai still kneeling waited for a response.

At the bank
After receiving a reply to her loan request, Kawakai immediately headed to the bank and had a word with the nearest assistant "Yes, go through those doors down the corridor and it's the second on the left" after following the mans directions Kawakai found herself in a room with two chairs and a table, both were empty, after a ten minute wait a gruff man came and sat down opposite Kawakai "Talk."

"I'm asking for a 3 ducat investment to be repaid two years from now, you will also receive a %25 tax rate on my partition of the business. What is this business? Well we want to establish ourselves as a service company which will profit partially from the sales of drinks and mechanical trinkets" Kawakai pushed forwards an ampheni and a clockwork toy which would walk after having a string attached to an internal gear pulled, she then continued whilst the banker mused over the curious items:

"The main attraction to the business however will be the more subtle aspects of it, as a whole our embassy will partake in diplomacy and other jobs requiring payment and later provide the training of such specialists, my partition will take on more specialist jobs that require the knowledge of a skilled mechanic." Kawakai looked to the banker for a response, she thought she'd done quite well personally.

Try to get an audience with the Knight Commander, try to get hired. After that stroll around the city and check rumours for any opposition against Ligoria...

'The Six of Opals, gentlemen. I believe that means I win?' Etiac Belladom said, grinning broadly and leaning back in his chair. Angry grunts and curses erupted around the table, grimy hands pulling over his cards as if they thought it was some kind of illusion. Belladom scooped up whatever valuables the others had placed on this game.

He'd been playing cards and dice all morning in different tables, with varying success. But overall, it seemed he'd won more than he'd lost, especially at this table. His three opponents were caravan guards, coming to enjoy themselves after a hard day's work, and very easy to read. Etiac knew he had to quit soon. They wouldn't tolerate his winning streak forever, even if he hadn't been cheating that much. The innkeeper would break up any fights quickly enough, but after such a scene he'd have a hard time finding another batch of players willing to play with him.

He hadn't needed to look for a cheap place to stay for long. The city was full of them. He'd avoided the dirtier ones, finally deciding on this one. The place was brightly-lit and the barmaids were pretty enough, and there was always a game to be found in some corner. Tobacco smoke hung heavily in the air, making Etiac's eyes water. The owner, an Udanese with sharp, aquilline features and a muscular body, was always there to break up a fight when one occurred. He had an accent so thick even his workers had trouble hearing him sometimes. Etiac was sure he'd been a mercenary once. It was also frequented by a wide variety of interesting people - for example, the strange lizard man and its entourage from earlier. He hoped they'd come back. He wanted to learn more about the creatures.

'Hah!' one of his fellow players suddenly exclaimed. 'Can yeh beat that, boy?'

Etiac frowned, regarding the cards the mercenary had laid on the table. He'd played the High Court, one of the highest possible combinations in the game. A King, the worn card painted a deep blue and intricately detailed - the figure defaced rather creatively to resemble Ligoria's beloved Queen, he noted - and his advisors and royal family. His two comrades let out sounds of disbelief. Belladom made a little shrug, revealing his more modest counter.

'I don't think so. I'm out. A good game, gentlemen.' he said, gathering his valuables into his bag. This was how he liked to end a game anyhow, with his opponents relatively satisfied and he a few pieces of silver richer. Still, he noticed a greedy look on the face of one of his opponents when he opened the bag. It was best to leave quickly, before he got a chance to dwell on that any longer. With a polite nod of his head, he got up and headed out of the inn.

The streets were full of people at this hour, merchants and citizens heading for the markets up the road. Patrols of disciplined soldiers moved through the crowds, members of the newly-founded Talama Guard. He steered well away from them in case the Captain had made a report of him. Down the street was a collapsed inn, and he'd heard the lizard-men were somehow involved. Tavern rumours, no doubt, but perhaps he could talk to the owner sometime. Otherwise, the district had few interesting features, though the whorehouse coming up on the street had seemed surprisingly high-class, if there could be such a thing.

His eyes scanned the crowd idly, passed over a group of heavily-built sailors, went back, and froze. Etiac stopped in his tracks, nearly falling over in surprise. He recognized each of the men - sailors of the Majestic, the right-hand men of the Captain. One of them was the sailor he'd thrown at Dugun during his escape, and the way he held his side told Etiac he hadn't quite forgotten that yet. He took a quick look around, checking the area for a good, shadowy side alley or similar hiding place. The whorehouse was to his right, the girls displaying themselves to passerbyes in front of the unassuming building.

He hoped the sailors hadn't noticed him as well, but that hope was soon squashed when he saw the lead one point and shout at his direction. The entire group broke into a run, and so did Etiac. He took the nearest door, swooping in past the surprised girls of the whorehouse. He didn't have time to appreciate the interior, picking a stairway at random. Etiac picked up a shout and saw a lean guard detach himself from the wall, but had no intention of stopping. Behind him, he could hear the angry shouts and curses of the pursuing sailors. He turned for a quick glance at the top of the stairs, just in time to see one of the sailors deliver a stunning haymaker into a guard's jaw. The lean one had forgotten about him, turning back to deal with the Majestic's men. Belladom kept running, just in case. He sped down the corridor, deciding on a room at random. He banged desperately on the door.

'Let me in! Let me in, or I'm dead!' he shouted, listening to the combat downstairs. He had no idea what was going on down there.

Etiac Belladom flees from a group of vengeful sailors inside a whorehouse

Hugo looks up at the knocking at the door.
"Oh, by the light. I should see what's going on. Perhaps we can continue this conversation some other time"
He opens the door and looks into the corridor, just in time to see the first of the sailors come up the stairs, nose bleeding and rage in his eyes. He looks at Etiac, back at the sailor, and back to Etiac. He comes to a conclusion, and steps out into the corridor.
"Hello sailor! Might I ask what's going on here? I do hope that we weren't thinking of getting violent in this house of love? Surely we can put our differences behind us and-"
The sailor swings a punch, barely missing as Hugo steps aside.
"Or not, then. Well, I like a good fight as much as the next man, eh? What do you say, stranger? Think we can take him?"
More sailors arrive from downstairs.
"Him and his friends, apparently"

In Thunderblades land:
(4) The man snorts when you flaunt your credentials but listens to the rest of your statement.
"Boy, I've seen lords come and go 'round here. This land is in our blood, we farmed here before Talama was founded and descendants will do so after Talama collapses...But people like money around here, hell everyone does. But I'm afraid that we can't pay any more taxes without problems or I would give you the money... People around here are poor but prideful...but I'm sure that we could start farming grapes next year as well as give you the standered tax from the grain of two ducats..."
He walks over to the window and looks out.

Kathos sighed, and said nothing for a few minutes. He was thinking.

"The last man who called me 'boy' died two years ago. You are proud, and I like proud men. I appreciate your offer, but I will not wait one year. These lands are currently paying about four ducats per year... That's not enough. I could spend all my money on this project, but I won't... I have other things to do. I will find the money elsewhere. Thank you for your time."

He walked towards the exit. He opened the door, and hesitated for a second. With a dark smile, he turned towards the mayor.

"Like I said, I like proud men, but next time you call me 'boy', you're dead."

And with that, he left. He said a few words to his guards waiting outside, and within a few minutes Kathos and his men were gone.

((Shootandrun, I forgot that you get 4 ducats a year now, he meant to say that. Sorry. Are we going to roll for the fight?))

William chuckles.
"Not any one woman to take offense, maybe a few, plus a few me-What the hells?"
William draws his sword and swiftly steps in front of Hugo and pushes the point of the sword to the Sailor's gut. Not breaking the skin or the cloth.
"So tell me why you want that rangy man who got in the room and maybe we'll hand him over, no need to get violent with innocent- well probably not so innocent in my case- bystanders, they may get violent back.

Once Kathos had arrived in the capital and found a good looking inn to rest, he sent a letter to his steward, who was still in the manor.
