Okay Pisano, you're in.  I don't know where XhAPPYSLApX is (man, that name is XaNNOYINgX to type), but I PM'd him, so he should know it's his turn.

Maybe you could try this : http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=4993

It's my full DF folder, it only has the Unitedwires save in.
On the off chance that my computer finishes downloading and unzipping the folder before the next guy gets his turn (~40 minutes left by the estimation, how many forts do you have?), and the likely chance that this works, I'll start immediately. Assuming no complaints from anyone, of course.

I guess that's that then.  Carry on, I'll update the turn list.

Hmm, I've never played a succession fort before...

Could you put me down for the next available turn?

Grabbing the save and taking a look.

edit: no problem loading the save.  I just grabbed the save and not the whole DF folder+save that was uploaded later.

I have created a world with a couple of custom races of my own design, as well as paper and titanium, with a few other miscellaneous items (some mine and some others') which may or may not crop up at some point.

Gizogin, do you have any details to share about the custom races and other things?  I see paper bars and I read something about a generator.  Have any info that will help us take advantage of the mods you've made?

Sure.
New materials are paper and titanium.  Paper is made at a paper mill from wood pulp, which is made from logs at the mill.  Titanium is made from rutile or ilmenite at an advanced refinery (it might still be called a bed reactor, I forget if I changed it), and it makes great sharp weapons and armor (it's basically steel, but lighter).  Paper can be made into paper sheets, which can then be bound in leather to make a book at a writing desk (doesn't do anything, it's just a trade good, but the paper sheets are actually better for that anyway).  The copper wires and steel generator are just required materials to build mills and refineries.
As for the new races, there are Felisians (cat-people, they have good weapons and combat skills, and they bring good stuff for trading) and Dragonlings (dragon-people, they are poisonous and I think some can breathe fire).

Journal of Pisano, a humble mason of Unitedwires.

1st Granite, 553

Holy crap this place smells of fish.  I can barely concentrate on crafting fine stone coffers, doors, and tables with the incredible fish smell coming from the stores.  Finding someone to prepare some of these raw fish is a top priority.

The next thing I was asked was why we had so many bed rooms, but so few of them assigned.  That and a number of dwarves in the prison cells wanted real room.

(prison cells)

(real rooms)

10th Granite

Still some goblins lurking out there.  I haven't had a chance to review our sturdy military dwarves yet.

19th Granite

21 Migrants arrived today.  The goblins wasted no time attacking the migrants and I wasted no time opening of the skull gate bridge and sending the military out to attack the goblins.  The military swarmed the four goblins and it was over quickly for them.  We lost a pet buck rabbit and had a few flesh wounds in the process.

The military appears to have weapons, but little in the way of armor so I've ordered some steel breastplates, mail shirts, greaves, helmets and so on to be made.  We have a decent stock of metals in bar form and a ton in ore form including 30+ steel bars and some iron.

26th Slate

Asmel Zanesgmor, Metalsmith has been possessed by unknown forces and claimed a metalsmiths forge.
He wants bars metal, blocks bricks and tree life... we have all three but he doesn't seem happy with our selection.

16th Felsite

Asmel has still not grabbed anything.  I ordered some new blocks created but to no avail.

Also the miners are on strike.  They won't tell me why but I ordered our main staircase extended down and designated a new housing area for our 21 new migrants but nobody is digging.  I also started building a hospital since I haven't found one yet.

19th Felsite

The Elves have arrived and are unloading their stuff.  Of course nobody seems to know where they are and nobody can tell me who originally spotted them.  Perhaps there are no Elves.  We have two depots that I can find, one is just outside the curtain wall and the other is a new one that I built inside to make it closer to our finished goods stockpiles.

I should take this moment to discuss the wonder that is the Skull Gate.  It stands eleven stories tall and serves as an imposing entrance to Unitedwires.  I believe additional towers should be raised as well.

22nd Felsite

Ah I figured out some of the strange behavior.  Previously a burrow had been designated for 'inside' and it seems a great many dwarves were prohibited from going outside.  This includes unloading the old depot.  Once I cleared up the burrow issue things started going a lot smoother.

28th Felsite

Asmel began his construction, it seems he wanted something that was in the depot.  He has iron bars, limestone blocks and an alder log.

Summer time!

4th Hematite

Ah an image with a bit of our history engraved on it.

It's good to see this fort moving again.  Nice work Pisano.  How in the world did we end up with so much fish?

I think it's because we have a small pond inside of the walls of the fortress assaigned as our water source. Fisherdwarves didn't have to go to far to go store their fishes in the stockpile so we had a constant amount of fish caught every month. And/or we didn't have a fishery and people couldn't clean the fishies.

Great work Pisano! Good idea with the depot.

re: fish, yeah there are a lot of fisherdwarves ranks: 11, 10, 6, 5, 4, 3.  And there are three fishery workshops so I'm not sure why so much of it isn't processed.

I'm working on another update now.  This place has tons of coal, iron ores and other valuable ores which is pretty nice to deal with after some of the other forts I've played recently.  I spruced up the entry hall a bit and am going to start working on some sort of semi-mega project as well as a few missing things, e.g. hospital, burial chambers and so on.
