It was a virus. Not sure wtf the pyramid is, though... Some odd sort of malfunction in code... You could say that an infectious code bound to/from the connection we were tapping could also affect us. The difference is, a code designed for a computer would affect us differently, though with just as much malicious intent.

Unsure what the whole point of the pyramid was, though I guess its convenient placement...?

I have every reason to believe that signal gave us some kind of overwhelming boost to creativity that literally fried us due to the flood of ideas. And that is why I vote to examine that pyramid.
