"Yes. I was. Thats how things usually go, with conspiracies. I don't like your tone. So heres how this is going to go. You're going to put that sword away. Then I'm going to go stop more bloodshed, then we can all get together and talk this out.
Or you can leave your sword out, Die first, and then we'll have a nice dustup here."

Terenos puts the crown away, draws his own sword and waits.

This was a wonderful turn of events, the students were extremely willing to learn! They've learned enough, Locanil thought. Time to cull the class a bit and make some specialist out of the smarter ones.
Locanil did wonder why they wanted to learn all of the sudden, but it didn't really matter did it.

Action- Hold exam for class. Cull anyone of who has less than 50%. Say that what has been taught is enough to make anyone richer (as a scribe, clerk, etc.).

[2]  It never goes smoothly.  But at least the Prestoners keep their distance when everything goes to hell.

Fight: [5+2 vs 4+5]  Clear Victory

There isn't exactly time to set up what would traditionally be called an 'ambush', but Manning's crew get into the right positions for best advantage by the time the fighting breaks out.  The skirmish is short, fierce and bloody, and leads to heavy casualties.  You are able to draft enough men from the survivors to replenish your new personal guard, though the royal regiment is a total loss.  On the bright side, at least you aren't going to have to worry about being backstabbed by the Mirish soldiers now.

Manning: [5] The sudden, unexpected melee gives you a perfect opportunity to test your reflexes in the heat of battle.  You're pleased to learn that your skills haven't been dented that much by all your showboating after all, and even end up working out a new trick to practice when things cool down.  You now have 20 Training points in Swordplay.

[3]  The Prestoner army is unwilling to join you under your command, but even though your own force has just imploded they are wary of the fanatic loyalty of your surviving regiments.  They agree to a ceasefire and to turn back to Preston on their own.

Once Terenos & Manning move north, Taric's regiments will arrive in Miring.  At this time, a physician from the Order of Thyme will also arrive, seeking out Drua at the castle.

OOC: Out for the night.  Got stuff to do in the morning.

((It all works out. But just once I'd like something to go the way I plan it.
Gonna wait on my action for a bit, plotting in my head. I've got to move north after all. But that doesnt mean theres not options for shenanigans on the way...Im not even sure what I have left to command any more! So an update on that at some point'd be nice.))

Thanking the old herdsman, Kytuzian walked away, to investigate the tomb. While it would be best to leave Lonemine altogether for a safer venue to search for magical artifacts, Kain seemed to think he might need Kytuzian at anytime, so he refrained.

Using his usual equipment(save the horse), along with his writing kit (paper, quill, ink) Kytuzian set out to find the plateau, but left a note of where he was and where to meet him if he was not back, saying, "I had gone to investigate a rumour of a stone tomb, and maybe make a map. If I am needed by Kain, meet me at the northern reaches of Lonemine."

Go and search through as many mountain trails as I can before it becomes dark, then go back. Make a map of where I go.

Unless you wait for Taric's troops to arrive instead of heading straight north, you still have 1 regiment of personal guard and Manning's Crew at your disposal.  Every other force under your command was killed when your army imploded in a crisis of loyalties and suspicion.  A force of 3 Prestoner infantry and 1 Prestoner cavalry will be returning north alongside you but not allied with you (or ahead of you if you wait and don't use ships to get to Preston first).

On the other hand, things not going the way you plan them has generally worked out pretty damn well for you.

Hey! These are some exceptionally fine plans here. Maybe not masterwork plans but at least reasonable plans! I achieve my goals but never the way I want.
That said, I have a plan -this- time, And it -should- work. Emphasis on -should-.
On about your evening Iituem. Great stuff so far. I look forward to yet more (possibly ridiculous) attempts to kill Terenos d'Avistral.

To be honest, Pompulion had never been on the recieving end of a shadeling. For every occasion that he found the need for them they were used to achieve things that didn't require his presence, and now seeing their handiwork up close; he had a newfound respect for them, the sort born of fear.

And with the mention of this Manskinner, he realized he must be located near the barbaric nomads of this region. Pompulion was weary of barbarians, they always proved to be the unpredictable sort, yet if he wanted any chance to hold some power here he would need to know who he was up against.

"Now it is reasonable to want to avoid one with a name such as that, but would you rather have a murderous madman or live amongst the vile forces of the hells? Now if you would simply point the direction of the lands of the Manskinner, I would be much obliged. I would however ask that you would join me in leaving this foul place, or at the least let me help you bury your fallen." Gesturing in the general direction of the lump of meat that was once a man, not daring to take another look at his twisted form. He realized he would be leaving the shadelings to fend for themselves, but he was sure they wouldn't dare to renege on the pact.

Pompulion asks the hunters the direction to Manskinner's lands, offering to let them join him.

((Curses, the dice gods were cruel to give us a 1!. Regiments lost should be 1 of the Royal Army and 1 of Knavston's Crusader Guard))

Grand Master cursed and then quickly corrected himself with a small prayer of forgiveness. The battle to capture Prince Karl had gone south quickly. His forces were not prepared for the assault by the King's Fortress Guard. Thankfully they had decided to not press the attack or more soldiers may have been lost. Still, many of his own personal Guard had given their lives on the field today. They would be avenged.

It was clear that the battle for Preston would no longer be won quickly. Drastic measures would have to be taken. Until relief from Miring and the 2nd Army arrived, Preston outnumbered their forces, held the defensive ground and the initiative. Knavston would have to deny them of any advantage. He clenched his fist in fury at the thought of the soldiers who had given their lives.

“This war will take longer than anticipated.” His tone became ominously grim as he addressed the other Lords, “Prepare to loot the city. We'll take anything of value. Then we'll see how their soldiers like to fight when they have no money to pay them. Perhaps in their haste, that will draw them out into a trap. And if that doesn't work we'll burn the whole thing down.”

He  took a moment to eye every man present, his eyes showing how serious he was. He then allowed his words to sink in before letting the others present speak their mind.

((This will either be really freaking cool or go spectacularly wrong  :P))

((Excuse me, But taunting the dice to either swing in his favor, or spectacularly wrong is the wheelhouse of my character. A small amount of messaging led to this action. I did want to consult with ol Manning after all.))

Terenos travels with his personal guard regiment south, To meet up with the commander of the approaching Elbreth Army.
