Actually, it's pretty easy to get the right amount of protein when you're a vegetarian. you just have to eat stuff like rice and beans.
Certainly, but you have to consider the reality of living in different societies as having an effect on this. You're in India, who's society is very much slanted towards making being a vegetarian possible for the everyday person. I've never tried to be a vegetarian, but I think it would be far more difficult in the US. There's meat or meat products in, on, or around a large percentage of dishes. Rice, although enjoyed by me personally, is still somewhat uncommon. Beans are more common, but I think I'd go insane if I had to eat them instead of meat. Being vegan would be a living hell. If there is anything I know about American food, it's that milk and cheese are everywhere. To avoid those literally seems impossible, at least for people in America, in my eyes.

Much like everything else, eating habits are spread across many extremes in the bigger picture of humanity.
And this is why no one listens when Russia complains about how its rated by freedom indices.
It would be much better if Putin stopped trying to be Eternal Prime President Forever. He certainly improved Russia's economy, but retracted civil liberties by about the same amount. Of course, if you want to get technical, this is all Yeltisn's fault for getting brain damaged off of lots of vodka and then crashing the Russian economy straight into the ground, thus leaving prime ground for Putin's ascension to godhood, as Russian President administration to take power.

I've ranted before about the nefarious dairy lobby and their never-ending quest to stuff cheese into every possible orifice.  :-\

That's not really fair to Yeltsin. That's like placing the fault of the Nazis on the Weimar Republic. If that were the case, then Chancellor von Hindenburg's name should be synonymous with disaster.

It would be. Unless this passes. Is 'homosexual propaganda' really that much of a problem there? Do cabals of young men and women approach children on field trips and hand out small copies of 'Being Gay is Okay?' President-for-Life and First-TigerBear Putin is small considering how massive a restriction of free speech this might end up being.

Vegan is difficult in the US.

Vegetarian, not so much. Actually, vegetarian is pretty damn easy, truth be told, especially in the last 5 years. Heck, even Burger King has exclusive vegetarian options nowadays, most restaurants have vegetarian-geared items and vegetarian versions of dishes that aren't, and of course if you're eating at home its incredibly easy.

I went vegan for 2 weeks.

I felt like I was going to die. Granted I was also limited from a lot of stuff normally eaten by vegans (I had to eliminate iodine from my diet, which means I subsisted on homemade bread and a handful of other things), but damn...

Vegetarian's easy enough, though. Been one for nearly 3 years now. Just gotta watch the ingredient labels.

They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I... I love nuclear power. Nuclear power is STILL the safest, cleanest and most reliable form of energy production known to man even including Fukushima and Chernobyl.
After a friend working in the industry explained me how much they didn't respect the regulation (and a few scandals showing complete disregard of the energy industry toward safety) I doubt it, now. I'm sure we can make it safe, but I'm just am as sure that there is dozen of disaster in waiting in Europe and America.

And Fukusima is in no mean surprising given the history that Japan had with nuclear accident/incident. I'm completely sure that anywhere in the western world, urgent work and maintenance are delayed for financial reason, and that the permits to prolong the life of current power-plant are given abusively.

That's my perspective on it, too.  Nuclear power is our best option right now *in theory*.  I just don't trust the people involved to make responsible decisions, when their motivations are the same as any other business that wants to cut corners wherever possible to reduce costs and maximize profits.

Honestly, that's how I feel about technology in general.  The way we're doing things right now is completely unsustainable.  As a species, we'd be better off going back to the stone age than what we're doing now.  It's fun for the time being, but it's going to be horrible in the end.  I don't believe that our technology is inherently unsustainable.  I think it's our business oriented motivations that make it so.  If profit weren't our #1 concern, we could use technology to make the entire planet healthier.  Instead, we're turning it into a toxic nightmare.

Hell, in the US your politician expect the intervention of God to solve global warming, what will they invent to justify neglecting security for nuclear plant? God won't allow it to blow up? And I don't trust any private company to choose security over profits (gulf of Mexico, anyone?), so give me a reason why there won't be (a lot of) accidents. And as we all know, they can get pretty nasty, with long lasting effect.

But  yeah, it's still the way to go, we just can't allow the system to go on like it is, you just can't trust him with anything.

I was hoping that was a translation error, and it was just a law to prevent Russians from being "happy". Because that's been an unofficial government policy for centuries.

Here's another story on it with a bit more detail:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/nov/26/russian-anti-gay-bill-medieval-barbarity

Also....Russian Nazis? WTF? That's like a black Klansman.

Not just nazi. Nationalist fascist royalist orthodox fundamentalist racists. And the only reason I left out communist is that I can't remember for certain if they included it in their fucked up ideology as well. I swear, that movement incorporates the very worst parts of any ideology that ever existed.

There used to be a "nazbol" party. Quite a strange lot, and not only because their ideological mismash seems straight out of a Simpsons joke. Among other things, they were openly homophobic, yet used lesbian porn in their electoral propaganda, and saw no contradiction in this.

Actually,  they don't, according to their website, insofar as I recall. They just adopted the imagery. They officially subscribe to the Strasser brothers' brand of nazism.
