I preferred when shield bashing was in, it would be better if the upper limits were toned down, though.

It allows a skilled knight to juggle more opponents at once and it made fighting in high places even more interesting.

Yeah, shield bashing was quite OP xD
I fully agree with you.
Also, lets bring this discussion to my favorite class, builder.
In what flavor do YOU like your towers?

I like big and sturdy, usually 4-block-thick buildphase towers with a enterance 7/8 blocks from the ground, notches with 0,1,1,0,1,1, repeat (where 0 is a empty space and 1 a block) That have a quarters RIGHT behind the door and a archer nest
I use standard linepieces for front-line battle, and i try to slowly expand on them.

Oh towers. I mostly use simple ones, three bricks thick, 010 for one floor 111 for the other, repeat(0 is a door, 1 is a wall).

Reposting, since relevant once more...

I see someone building this thing like every game. They especially love putting it right in front of there own teams spawn, nowhere else. By far the worst structure build with good intentions.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I dislike it cause;
-Only 3 titles thick and easly destroyed
-Blocks your teams movement as much as the enemy
-Can be climbed rather easily, can't put spikes there to block enemy
-No archer cover
-A single stone block completly disables your side and allows the enemy to turn it for there purposes.
-Does no damage to enemy
-You seriously will make your team climb over it 150 times or whatever the ticket counter is, so you can delay a builder 15 sec while he chops out 3 blocks?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I like pyramids, they are easy to build and will always be more useful to your team then to your enemy...

I found a cool blueprint for a modular and fully repairable from the inside tower somewhere on the game forum.
Extreamely hard to topple over.

Goes more or less like this.

b - background wall
B - Block
D - Door

BbbBBB
BbbDBB <- This side facing the enemy
BbbDDB

You build either ladders or bridges to get around levels (it's supposed to consist of 2 or more of mudules like that) and can finish it up by placing anything you want at the top.

And of course it needs some bridges/ladders to make itaccesible for your team... but over all it's a great easy to build and durable design.

(it got locked due to the poster being ignorant and he kept saying "PYRAMIDZ ARE DA BEST!")
You search it, i cant find it somehow.

Wait, what has that to do with the rest of this post? Did you just say that to slap a random guy on the internet down? Or several bad teammates?

I think he posted this because it's somewhat humorous how a thought out design turns into a pile of crap when the team and maintaining it builder/s get under pressure. Makeshift repairs. Enemy team vandalising bits and piecess ETC.

On the same note, that isn't an equal comparison at all. He's saying "Something built and designed by a single person, which has never been attacked." > "Something which has been built, maintained, repaired, and assaulted (possibly by both teams) over the course of a game." The proper response, naturally, is no shit.

No, he says, "How I do it" vs "How my team does it", not "Hey look this place's shit got wrecked!"

Fixed your tags for you.

Are you being deliberately dense? He's implying that his team is full of morons because the structure that they've been maintaining (for what looks like most of a game) isn't as pretty or functional as a brand new one, and I made note of that. What someone literally says != what someone means.

Yes... I'm saying that the pictures had nothing to do with the rest of the post.
For him to include that made no sense.
It looks like someone break shit and moved some stuff around.
But he says that the first picture is what he built, and the second is the one his team built.
Or at least he's implying that.
Even if enemys/idiot team mates messed up a building he made, it still makes no sense in the context with the rest of the post.

ANYWAYS, epic finish on a 1-hour game just now. We had gradually pushed the Reds back farther and farther, until it came to a small canyon with towers on both sides. The bloodshed was absurd; if we hadn't had Unlimited lives, the game would have ended right there. Eventually we shattered Red's tower; all that was left was hastily erected defenses overlooking the canyon, and a small courtyard between that and their spawn building. Still, they fought valiantly, and the battle raged as we tried to blow apart the tower, and dig under their base. I got several bombs and blew a hole through the bottom of the courtyard just as someone bombjumped in through a hole in their building's roof, and took the flag. The blue with the flag jumped through the now gaping hole and ran like hell; we had 2 minutes to get the flag back to the base. Red sallied forth one last time, hoping beyond hope to stop the ringbearer's flagbearer's inexorable march towards Mt. Doom the spawn tent. And the Blue Army met them on the battlefield, and much blood was shed. We captured the flag with around 30 seconds left on the clock.

And this was a public server :p the server was not without its idiots, but there was little they could do to detract from the moment.

Edit: Re: what I build/what my team builds

I think he's just pointing out that at least lately, there's been a large influx of new builders, who are struggling to understand that you're supposed to build to last for more than ten seconds, if you have any time at all. Structures do degenerate over time, but often no one bothers to repair them. I find myself taking up the hammer to fix gaping holes in our defenses quite often. However, I never bother gathering resources by mining/chopping wood. If you're sort of brave, you can run in the battlefield; oftentimes, stone and wood litter the ground, with gold scattered in between. All in all, people could do more to help out; as a knight, I always pick up everything and give building supplies to builders who look like they know what they're doing, and arrows to archers with good aim.

Well most games end up with abominations like the one posted and it's rarely the fault of teammates.

In the awesome game that just took place, our tower withstood the test of time very well. I think it's because of the outpost being very close, so builders could easily get to the tower, and we had several dedicated builders that kept the tower together with chicken-wire and duct tape :p
