Cool to here some cool games. I wish there were more infite life CTFs, my kill death ratio is usally absurdly bad.
I know that doesn't matter for most games, but in this game I like to TRY and get more kills then deaths so I'm not a liability to my team.

Don't worry about kdr's. Not only are they horribly bugged, they really don't matter.

If you're a knight it's not entirely about killing people. Sometimes you need to protect archers, or just hold off enemies for a few seconds.

If you're a builder, you should be repairing structures as well as making new ones; the builders that sit in the back mining all game are as good as afk, even if they have a huge score.

If you're an archer, sometimes you can make a huge difference by climbing onto an enemy structure. From there you can shoot builders, unprotected workshops/outposts/catas, and even unprotected knights or other archers. Don't be afraid to run away, though; agility is a great asset.

Edit: extra builder stuff

In the beginning of the game builder is extremely important, especially in maps with a middle hill. By capturing that, your team benefits greatly. In one game with a hill I ran out into the middle and place two stone blocks, which gave my team time to get up the hill while their team floundered at the bottom.

Like most team-based games, kdr is fairly meaningless in terms of indicating how much someone contributes.

Does anyone else enjoy playing as a sort of combat engineer, going in with the knights to dig away the foundations of enemy structures and break their traps, as opposed to building back at home?

I feel like I'm posting way too much ;_; I'm normally pretty inactive.

That said, forward teams that consist of only knights are often rendered useless by defensive structures. Having a builder up front is usually necessary to make any progress. Also it's a lot of fun to wreck their towers :p

Oh yes. Nothing more satisfying than bringing down a big old tower. I remember one that was around 20 tiles thick but in poor repair, and their entire skybridge was only connected to it... when I brought that down, it killed something like half their team and a third of mine.

Had two great games recently where the enemy clearly had the upper hand and ended up on top of our base over a sky bridge. In both games we turned things around somehow. One was because the enemy got careless and spent all their lives trying to get in. On the other the battle swayed back and forth with infinite lives.

Still can't decide which I prefer infinite or limited lives. Quite like the limited lives because it rewards standing your ground and more careful play. The end game drags but then infinite lives games can take hours.

On the topic of front line builders I really wish they wouldn't automatically knock down enemy towers. Once we've taken it it's our tower not theirs and can serve us well with modification.

I only go attacking builder when i notice that the concentration of moronic knights is low, aka, when my survival chances are higher then normal.
But i agree. There HAVE to be more unlimited lives servers. (bay12 server, anybody? i would prefer it to be gold,  but thats your call.)

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

There are almost no Gold servers as well...
I think a bay12 zombie server would be awesome as well(Mostly so I can make jokes about !!FUN!!), along with a ctf w/ infinte lives.

I may actually pay for the game if zombie mode is fun and you could do group zombie survival.  Would love to watch the B12 maniacs getting ripped to shreds.

I don't think we'd have to make a gold server. You can make a server with a password easily, and public servers can be modded. That way if any B12'ers don't own KAG but want to drop in, they could.

Is replacing damaged doors with your own no longer possible? I haven't been able to for a while, but I didn't see anything in any patch notes. Really, it would be okay if you couldn't, because nobody ever knew that you could :T

Also I figured out something neat :D If you have a damaged team bridge (that belongs to your team), you can place backwall behind it and it will be repaired. It needs to be your team bridge originally; if you're blue and fix a red team bridge this way, it will be red.

As it is though, single player has nothing fun about it and I'm a little daunted trying to get into multiplayer.  So, whatever.
EDIT: Playing free, that is.  If it's supposed to demo what's fun and why you should buy it, then they didn't include any fun parts :/

CTF is the main part of the game. I'm certain the demo comes with that. I suggest you find a fairly busy CTF server, dive in, and try not to take it too seriously (especially ignore any asshats). I can't really suggest a class but I started as a knight. Vaulting is a useful skill that new players often miss. Oh and sometimes it's best to retreat and wait for backup.

Edit: The manual is a great read even if you know your stuff.

And heal. ALWAYS HEAL. 15 secs is less important then a life, and it will take more time to spawn and run back to the battle field anyways.

We have made this clear girlinhat, this isnt a singleplayer game, this is 97,5% a multiplayer game.
So just try it it will be fine!
A few tips if youre going builder:
Dont do ground level doors.
Make doors 7 or 8 blocks above the ground, this way your teammates dont get stunned when jumping off.
Dont make towers slabs all the way up, make it a stone slab until the door point, and then make it out of rooms that you can then put workshops in.
Dont make spikepits in the build time. Build towers.
You'll have to improvize towers when attacking the front lines.
Repair buildings.
Dont spend the entire game perfectioning your tower.
Dont do tent-to-tent tunnels unless you know how to secure a tunnel.
Buy bombs/arrows with your spare coins and give them to knights/builders (subtip: in pubs, try to give them to people with hats. these usually know how to use them best)
