Please answer the following questions about loan interest:
1) If I go into debt now, will the interest affect my starting balance next turn?
2) Can I spent my end-of-turn income now, essentially going into debt until the end of the turn, without paying interest?
If you spend over what you have in the treasury NOW, you'll have to pay interest in the end-of-turn income.

Is there a cost to replacing marines sent out on invasion?
Currently no. This is factored in the maintance.
That said, if one abuses repairing ships repeatedly as a tactic, I may impose a cost, anywhere from double upkeep to 50% construction cost in order to discourage that.

Bottom line: This is a space 4x game. If you lost space superiority, losing is just matter of time.

Minor mechanic change
Overflow to next level of technology less likely. Now research will overflow if it is above 150% of base in one turn(instead of 100%).

Sorry, going to have to back out of this.  If I'm going to commit to a forum game I'd rather do it properly, and between other projects I just can't really afford the extra concentration.

Will continue to watch, but I'm officially surrendering my place and (if it makes things easier) empire to the next player on the waiting list.

I assume that Ghazkull will take the spot (Did you PM him yet? He might not be watching the thread particularly closely), but how's it going to go? Will he take over Iituem's empire as it is now with unchanged stats, take it over but have the chance to change the stats, or create a new empire with Iituem's planet as it originally was and get a free turn?

Most of the time I would say this:
take it over but have the chance to change the stats.

But since we just started, we might as well go with:
create a new empire with Iituem's planet as it originally was and get a free turn?

Losing 600P probably won't matter much in the long run, but could you fix it?

You thought they cost 80%, but I interpreted as 20% more effective.
