Are there any ways to reduce the weight of equipment aside from scrolls of flying? I decided to try a fairy thief for laughs.

turn it into cloth with a Inferior Material scroll

Alternatively, use Change Material or Superior Material scrolls and change it into the other light but not massively cruddy material types like Spirit Cloth, Dawn Cloth, Zylon, and so on.

Anyone know a good place to get some daggers or other good dual-wield weapons for a thief early? Can't seem to get anything of the sort out of the puppy cave... maybe I'm just being unlucky.

The game seems to be windows-only as far as I can tell so you'll have to fiddle with something like wine to get it working.

Thanks, I was able to find it that way. Saves me a ton of time grinding for gold - although I guess I'm now short on platinum, since my main, very slow source of gold prior to that was harvest jobs. I have a ridiculous number of seeds now. After investing millions into a couple of the Palmia vendors I might blow Palmia up for the karma thing and turn tricks for money instead.

I wish there was a way to improve platinum rewards, or at least increase the number of quests available from a given town. I know about Yact but I picked Kumi for now because I wanted his scythe.

The sheer amount of grinding in this game is a little off-putting. I think the whole thing about "potential" in stats and skills both on top of having to simply increase them seems excessive.

Also, I forgot. Is there a way to show exactly what your fame is? I looked at the character sheet but I couldn't find it. I'm probably just blind.

Ah, burned a spell or 2 under the one you were spam training, been there done that. Though meteor isn't that hard to cast once you have a decent casting skill, its problem is actually getting stock in it. I've nuked bandit groups for fun with it several times.

I'm testing Elona+ my eeePC 901, Lubuntu, with Wine. It's a little slow but it's ok. It crashes everytime i want to exit the game, but the save is stilll good, so, i don't really care.

However, i hate the "shift = escape" key, as i cannot use he numbers 1, 2, 3... I have a french keyboard : "1" is "shit+&", "2" is "shift+2" etc. So, i must hit "shift", and the game understands "escape".

I've changed the config.txt file, but it seems to be useless :

consider changing the keyboard to english while playing elona. that's what i do when i can't change the layout and they insist to use x and z as attack and block.

You can actually set a number hotkey for abilities and spells. It solves all mis-casting issues and their potential ensuing house/town fires. Just scroll over to the spell and press the number(the normal ones, not the numpad) you want to assign to it.

qwertz?  Thats an odd keyboard style, but yeah I've got a qwerty layout but mine has an alternate french setting, and if I'm not careful it crashes elona.

It's nice in Elona+ that once you switch from Yacatect to someone else more usefull that you can still keep and use the Goose and Yacatect's gem stone to still get the monthly platinium coming.

Hm, anyone willing to compile a list of all Bay12'ers who have Elona so we can know who just died?

My currently active normal character is Resurrected Blade Aaron, Lawful Sane Neutral. IIRC this version is a Zanan, whom follows Eyth of Infidel.

My currently active Wizard Mode character is *Debug* Argus, Bacteria Predator, alignment Chaotic Necktie evil, with Rubynus equipment and follows himself.

My other characters, who I currently don't have saves of, are Nadia, a normal character of Lawful Sane Good, and Zinaldean, a Wizard mode character of Chaotic Bacon Good.
