How about Papa Roach? I don't listen to them, but I hear they're great.

I was wondering what kind of opinions I would get.  Figured you might want something "different".

You got Demons and Wizards and Blind Guardian on there, so I'll assume you just forgot the mention Iced Earth.

Besides them, I recently came upon Masterplan, a band that very few people ever seem to mention. Another band suffering the same problem would be Edguy.
Judging from your list you may or may not like Samael. Their old works are death metal (with appropriate production quality it seems) and their more recent works are somewhat progressive/industrial, like the one I linked to. Their most recent album harks back to their roots (which is a shame if you ask me). They have a lot of esoteric influences though, so that may be a turnoff if you're keen on the lyrics and really down-to-earth.
There's also Amorphis. They tend to get repetitive after a while but they're good for a fix now and then.

On the topic of non-metal bands, I'd first like to suggest Abney Park and Vernian Process, two indie steampunk bands.
Besides them, I'm also pretty partial towards some 80's bands, primarely Duran Duran (for the record, I have absolutely no clue about what's happening in that video) and the Dire Straits. Oh and I'm forgetting Toto and Bon Jovi here.

You know what, I love you man.
Masterplan, Edguy, Amorphis, Bon Jovi. I've also heard a bit of Vernian Process and think they are pretty cool.

For my suggestions;
For something humorous/insane try Lordi. If you like Rammstein you could check out the band that inspired them, Oomph! (2). Or if you want something more mellow Porcupine Tree (2) is pretty nice. The opposite of that would be Strapping Young Lad. If you enjoy Powerglove maybe The Protomen might be something you would like. Trans-Siberian Orchestra hits that classical spot well. Blue Oyster Cult (2) should already be known to a good amount of people, but are great. Scorpions (2) to represent old rock. A good folk band is Heidevolk (2) but are not for everyone. Flogging Molly (especially this) are my favorite punk band, and finally Insomnium, which are a melodic death metal band with poetic lyrics.

Since you like Death Metal I'll recomend Death. One of the first DM bands to exist.

Sorry, couldn't resist. When it comes to metal I can enjoy me some Coal Chamber, strangely. It doesn't realy fit a lot of my other music. Along with it, some of it's 'sister' bands like Static X and Korn. Although some of my more metal focused friends think I have very poor taste in metal, so feel free to spit at these, you most likely have them anyway. So let's get you into something interesting, something you haven't heard, that with any luck will blast you away!
Ah, early nu metal before it sucked :) You should check out Mindless Self Indulgence

OP, you skipped the "T", I'm missing some Therion, Tiamat, and maybe Type-O in that list.

Someone who's familiar with Oomph!  I'm rather surprised to find they did some work with L'ame Immortelle, something new to look into.

Oh, and in the melodic/symphonic corner, maybe you'll like Hollenthon.

If you like power metal, I recommend Hammerfall. It's one of the few power metal bands I really like. Sadly, it's almost impossible to find any of their albums around here, and I don't buy digitally.

Not only is it not actually advertising anything, it's just copy/pasting word salads about gold, runescape, oil, yuan, and handbags.  It's like a transporter accident combined all the spambots into one shambling mass of online sales.

I would say Oomph! is one of my favorite bands, they kick ass.

I would have to agree.  I enjoy both them and Immortelle, but then I have very eclectic taste.

Speaking of eclectic, another one for the OP, unless my prior donations completely horrified him/her.

SWANS ~ God Damn The Sun

not as eclectic but personally a comedic essential...

A few things completely different from each other:

Shostakovich Yeah I know that's classic. But it's awesome. 0:56, dude.

Serart, a project between Serj Tankian and Arto Tunçboyacıyan. Very trippy.

Tom Waits. Love his way of acting and how he puts himself in scene. Here too.

Haschplatte. Only electronical (minimal, to be precise) music I like.

Edit: Truly beautiful (Nick drake - Black eyed dog)

Ooh, very nice selection Chewie. The Shostakovich really is awesome, isn't it.

Anyway, I'll see your Tom Waits (a younger version of him, this track is one of my favourite ever)

and raise you a Nick Cave (one of his more mellow tracks)
