Klackon Society is divided into several general castes, for example, the labourer caste, the warrior caste, the artisan caste, the leadership caste, the intellectual caste and the breeder caste. So Klackons from the labourer caste would for example be bigger and stronger than klackons from the artisan caste, though klackons from the artisan caste will have more fine coordination for better precision in making fine crafts. There is some further dividing in castes, for example the leadership caste can be divided in the war leader, civil leader and overleader castes. All Klackons except the breeder caste are sterile. The breeder caste is arguably the most influential and powerful, even more powerful than the leadership caste, since it is they that control the composition and creation of all the other castes. This could lead to the breeder caste becoming mad with power, but they usually have a intrinsic and strong sense of duty to the hive.

Sheb McBrent was neither a great warrior nor a particulary good administrator, but he was a schrewd politician. When his armies were obliterated in Upper Brent, he knew the only hope of the McBrent Clan was the New Empire, that entity created to prevent any threat from the short-lived Western Dominion. With his son possibly dead and his own health more than fragile, he also knew that the Empire needed strong institution to survive.

Those institutions were the Diet, the Imperial Court of Justice and the University.

Although officially run by an all-powerful Emperor, the New Empire was much more akin to a collection of independent states. The Diet was the interface between the Emperor and the principalties composing his Empire. Although it officially only has consultative powers, the sheer power of the Princes and Dukes meant that the Emperor had to abide to most of the Diet's decision. So strong was the power of the Diet that even the Emperor's succession was mostly decided by the Diet.

The Imperial Court of Justice in the late 1740's. At the time, it was rare for the Emperor to preside the court himself.

Given the fractious nature of the Empire, conflicts were common among vassals. In order to solve them, the Imperial court of Justice was created. The Imperor, along with two other princes chosen by each of the conflicting parties would hear the arguments of both side, before reaching a decision. Of course, for most of the Empire, the Emperor lacked the power to efficiently enforce any decision reached, and had to rely on diplomacy to solve any conflicts.

Nobody realised the significiance of the University when it was first established. However, many historians think it was the defining factor behind the ultimate hegemony of the Empire. The University's role was to promote the sharing of knowledge among the peoples of the Empire. As every fiefs could benefits from the scholars of the whole empire, it prompted many scientific revolution.

The University was divided into two branches: the Magic and Technological Departments. Each fief had to choose one of the department and invest a given sum a year, in exchange of what it'd get any technology develloped by its department. It could also purchase the products of technologies from the other department to other Lords. That complicated organization was created to prevent technologies from becomming too commonplace and accessible to people outside the Empire.

On a good note, it seems I guilt tripped convinced Iituem to let me play!

For anyone keeping track, I'm starting in North Highblood-close to the Cadre of Vreyma (Phantom).

My position on the coast allows me into the trading block on the isle of tempests, as well a few territories space between anyone...benefit of coming in late I suppose, I get a small advantage in positioning. I took the only area where i wouldn't get eaten right off.

If anyone wants to tell me anything important that relates to where I am diplomatically, I might have missed by browsing the thread, I'll appreciate it. There's ALOT to read!
