I'm bored enough to write up some RP info...wheeee!
The Green Blood UnionThe Green Blood Union is almost entirely of Gnolls and Kobolds-
Gnolls are Half Man, Half Jackal... A normal Gnoll has spotted fur-which can be red, brown or rarely white-, a mouth full of teeth, weighs about 300 pounds and is 7 and a half feet tall. They out power a normal man in combat, but any advantage they gain is lost from lack of intelligence...Occasionally a Gnoll is born unusually large, or with an odd coloration, and is usually venerated as "Wizard Spawn"-those rumored to have been "blessed" by the ancient fallen Wizard they still worship.
Kobolds are much smaller than that, even smaller than Gnomes, though that may be attributed to their tendency to shrink down and cower when directly examined. They combine the worst traits of dogs, lizards and rats. A kobold usually has a short tail, pointed ears, scaled skin, and mud brown in color.
The Green blood union is very much a congregate of many previously scattered Gnoll tribes, and their newly acquired slave race, the Kobolds.
As such, they have a wide and varied culture...the strongest tribes of near every continent has gathered under the new banner.
It's much as to be expected from a fighting people, they prefer physical games that train the body for war-wrestling games, log lifts, axe throwing, sparring and endurance racing. Kobolds do much the same, but the emphasis is on stealth and trickery, instead of raw strength. Kobolds who aspire to become warriors are encouraged to steal-anything they manage to spirit away is theirs by tribal law, since the owner was not strong enough to hold on to it. Of course, they can always steal it back...in the Green Blood union, what you own is only as much as you can defend.
The Gnolls come in a few varieties- Southern Gnolls are originally from the Troud Region-they fought bitterly with the Klackons there, and only moved grudgingly. They are more cunning and intelligent than other Gnolls... Southerners do not forgive grudges lightly, and cling strongly to pack loyalty-they are a supremely destabilizing force in the newly formed Green Blood Union, but are also its strongest members, making up the military and political leadership.
The Central Gnolls hail from the Lester and Portley regions, and are the most numerous-they are the stereotypical "dumb brutes" which most people know Gnolls as. Central Gnolls are, in fact, not intelligent at all. They merely operate on instinct rather than rational thinking. This makes them poor builders and even poorer formation warriors, but they excel in single combat and, oddly are excellent painters and sculptors, if they can be inspired to put down their axes and hammers to pick up art tools.
The Sea Gnolls came from the island of tempests, and from all over the oceans of Arcanus-they being the most notorious of pirates, known for overrunning merchant ships in their ramshackle catamarans and slaughtering all aboard, then throwing the treasure overboard to make room for more food. Not to mention Northern Gnolls, expert hunters and trackers of men, Cave Gnolls, the makers of crude but efficent Gnollish weapons and armor, and Swamp Gnolls, who are amazingly good chefs and brewers.
Though Gnolls come from many places, they all tend to make the same buildings, in the style of aztec architecture-they really love terraces, if only because it's easy to understand. Even poor Gnolls will add terraces to their little wooden shacks, which have a tendency to collapse and kill or injure those living within.
Gnollish crafts are quite good actually, aesthetically if not functionally-they easily channel raw emotion into bizarre and powerful art forms. They would have a larger market if they didn't use the flesh and blood of fallen enemies, though.
As stated before, Gnollish weapons and armor are crude, but efficent-they tend to fall apart in battle, but before that, they perform well as any race. Just as well, as Gnolls will often toss away weapons and armor when berserking.
Gnolls are not a very spritual people-they have beliefs in the spirits of nature and ancestors, but it's a combative one-they view the spirits as evil beings who must be regularly beaten back and destroyed lest they possess the living, especially those of ancestors and enemies killed in war. This work is done by the Shaman, and is considered the highest task, and they are given power accordingly.. Strangely, this honor is only given to kobolds. Without the aid of a Shaman, Gnolls resort to beating corpses into pulp to try and keep the soul from escaping-not a pretty sight on the battlefield.
Gnollish belief in strongest when talking about "The Wizard"-their ruler during the magic wars, who died quite painfully… They still worship her and believe she will one day return to the living to re conquer the world in the name of the Gnolls.
