You'd think so, but when one of my miners once got got in magma for a second, he ran off leaving a horrifying trail of blood behind him, and attempted to start digging before dying of blood loss.

Cauterize him with a LOT of magma. Like 7/7.

The only two causes of non-combat bleeding that I know of are Forgotten beast Death Dust/poison and burning clothing / overheated armor.  If it is Death Dust, your fortress is in for some serious trouble.  All your children and pets will very likely get infected and die. 

You can't even get rid of all the Death Dust even if you use a washing pit or waterfall and then use the DFcleanmap cheat program.

Also, as far as FBs are concerned, I hadn't encountered any. Or megabeasts, for that matter. It's early in the fort.
