As I recall, the game ends on March 5th 1953, which is the day Stalin died. But this is from memory, so I don't know for sure.

Oh, and how does this game handle the nuclear era?  Are nukes possible, and if so do they trigger a "cold war"?
Nukes are very possible. They kill troops and deal permanent damage to the province (regular strategic bombing only does temporary damage, though in AoD you have to spend production to recover it), but
a)the game runs on the premise that WWII is in progress (even if there's no war going) meaning that your citizens will be pleased, not shocked, when you nuke Washington and kill millions of civilians.
and
b) you only get a small number of nukes (I think with the best research you can get them at the rate of 3/year?). So there won't be any nuclear winter.

Quote
I disagree at point 6.  We need to add point 5A->Join the US in their attack on Japan.  The biggest fault of the real-life soviets was not invading Japanese holding sooner.  That meant that the Americans could dictate all the peace terms to Japan, allowing them to become the financers of the Cold War Capitalists.  Instead, jump on them while distracted by the Americans.  Only when they fall or declare peace with the Americans should we antagonize the Allies.

Reasonable enough. By the time we don't have to worry about the Germans anymore, the Japanese fleet should be gone.

So:

1. By 1939: be prepared to turn back a German invasion in terms of units. Take our half of Poland and all of Pribaltika after the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. Annex Finland entirely in the Winter War.
2. By German invasion plus six months: halt the German advance and turn it back upon them.
3. By May 1942 (if the Germans have not attacked): attack Germany.
4. By German invasion plus one year, or May 1942 plus one year: reach Berlin.
5. By Jun 1943 Invasion of Persia.
6. By Dec 1944: invade Japan, including its Chinese holdings.
7. By May 1947: invade the Allies in Europe (including Finland and Norway if we have the forces) and begin island-hopping toward Australia and New Zealand.
8. Long-term: invade the United States across the Bering Sea.

Alliance prospects include the Turkish, the Brazilians, and the Republican Spanish (should they win the Civil War).

This game goes until 1964 (as Armageddon). Nuclear weapons are indeed possible, but I don't know if the AoD AI knows how to build them, and it certainly doesn't know how to fight a cold war.

I'm working on the next update (August '37). It'll probably come later tonight. The week after this one, I won't have my desktop with me, so we'll have a short break.

So we can go to Romania, yes?

Unless you want Hitler's armies to start raping the Red Army before 1941, no. Pre-emptive attacks on Poland and / or Rumania end up in Germany declaring war on the Soviets. It generally doesn't end too well.

Attacking Romania is impossible, but what about an Air Force initiative for Strategic bombers, we could possibly bomb Ploiest(The biggest oilfields in europe) in Romania from the air. *Once the war has started.

I as the air minister could at least consider that.

5 August, 1937

Many pictures today!

Stuff for Ministers:
IC allotments: the same. Army has 6 IC free (currently dedicated to unit upgrades). Everyone else is tapped.
Research: 1 slot free for Air Force. Everyone else busy.

Air Minister: the slot you lost has been taken, along with another national slot, to research Basic Interceptors and Basic Escort Fighters. Interceptors provide an upgrade path for our I-15s and I-16s where standard fighters do not, and escort fighters may be attached to bomber wings to make them more survivable.

In production:
  • Motorized Infantry: 6/10 complete
  • Infantry: 6/10 complete
  • Armored Car brigade: 8/10 complete
  • Headquarters Division: 0/3 complete
  • Tactical Bomber (SB-3): 3/8 complete; production line may be upgraded to Yak-4
  • Interceptor (I-16): 1/8 complete
  • Battlecruiser Kronshtadt: 0/1 complete
  • Transports: 0/10 complete
  • Factory: 2/12 complete
  • Infrastructure: 0/4 complete

Remember to keep me updated on your future research priorities. The first post has been updated with current research completions, unit commanders, air unit statistics, and a draft of the Plan for a Red World.

There is, but the events went the wrong way and Nationalist China and Communist China are at peace.

Are the Communist at war with the Japanese? We should give them all the support we can afford, short of declaring war of Japan.

Communist China remains neutral. Actually, were I doing it again, I wouldn't have provided support at all. I want the Japanese to sweep through China as quickly as possible. The longer it takes the Allies to crush them, the better it is for us.
