The filthy Romans, who dare think themselves to be equal to Greek, besieged the city. They build towers, and rams, and ladder to take the city.
The Romans raised ladders, and climbed unto the wall. The malice on their faces as plain as day.
Brave Greeks were sent to engage the Romans, despite being poorly equipped for the resulting fight. However, brave hearts are as good as any weapon, and the Romans were held back, for a time.
No sooner had the blood began to flow then the siege tower lowered its ramp, and disgorged its deadly occupants. The brave hoplites were unaccustomed to fighting sword-to-sword, but slaughtered many Romans.
But this was all a sideshow. The main assault was on the main gate, which was battered down with a ram. However, inside two phalanxes were waiting, and skewered the Romans as they came.
Not even a cavalry charge by the Roman general could dislodge these mighty warriors.
It was carnage. The crows were as thick as rain after the battle. A thousand men, killed in their prime to feed these beast of carrion.
But in the end, the invaders were repulsed, though many powerful Greek warriors had to give their lives for such a victory. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten, and their names shall be cried as we advance unto Rome!
(Not shown, the stupid Roman fighters who stood on top of the gate, fighting to the death with no one. I had all but won at that point, but it was still annoying to wait and let the battle end. Also, lesson learned, hoplites suck in anything except phalanx.)
