Then do it for science like I am with the door. I'm pretty sure opening it is a bad idea but at the same time I want to know how bad an idea it is, so to speak. Although unlike the rest of the original cast I'm not trying to leave this RTD any time soon. :-\

Powder, ya could just shoot it while it's still in the water. A few inches aren't to stop buckshot any more than a few inches of flesh would. Maybe goes double for dream buckshot. :P

Wait, why am I giving advice? I'm on the wait list...Pick up the arm...and EAT IT.

(I didn't say anything negative about you, PM, or wolfchild. I'm just pointing out Trol vanished, Taric has all but actually said 'I quit' and Tarran's basically admitted he doesn't really care. Of the four of us who started out, I'm the only one who still wants to be around and see this through as far as I can. That's all. :-\)

Hey, all I'm waiting for is for Taric and Dom to leave the base, then I'm jumping back in. (Mainly since the others have buggered off somewhere else, and Tarran is tarran XD)

Yeah, with all fairness to Draignean, this base section as gone on way too long. Over the past year the main cast has had, I believe, no more than 3 actual combat sequences. All the rest has been random exploration that hasn't really amounted to anything. Compared to the 10,000 foot base jumping, porn weaponizing, head exploding action of before this rtd has slowed down quite a bit. There hasn't even been any real plot advancement. To be honest I can't even remember why they're in the base in the first place. (I'm still interested though, so please don't take this the wrong way, this is a great rtd.)

Crash landing, killer ants. Oh, and someone nicked our ship.

Indeed. The base is just far too much to do in just one big block of a mission.

Maybe now that someone is actually talking to Jake he's gonna be an Exposition Fairy and tell them what the heck is going on.

But I have to agree with the general point that it has been rather a long time since the plot advanced or the players had an obvious goal and a way to accomplish it, or indeed any idea what's going on.

Although to be fair, player action may have scuttled the last attempt to move the plot forward, what with the truce with he-who-so-far-goes-unnamed breaking down when all the (conscious) protagonists just wandered off. XD

He did offer them safe passage outside, and their ship back IIRC.

(Here's where I stick up for Draignean. Yes, I wish we were through with the base too, but he's had to deal with a lot of bullshit this year and is still dealing with it. He just hasn't had as much time to write as he did when this started, and so everything's slowed down - if it had kept the same pace, we probably would have been out of the base sometime during the summer. I'm sure he'd like nothing better than to have the freedom to write all day without worry over his situation - on a more selfish note, I wish he could too, but still. Just chill, all right? The point's been made, no need to belabor it.)

I more than agree with all of you. I'm not exactly fond of this segment, it was an experiment in freedom. Instead of giving a clearcut goal with a single way to achieve it that was semi-forced, I wanted the players to be able to explore someplace and fit everything together by themselves. Apparently the reason why people don't do that in games is because it doesn't work very well. Freedom is well and laudable, but six months of searching bedrooms is a mite excessive. Give a pair of men shovels, directions to dig a trench, leave, and you return to find a trench. Give a pair of men shovels, no directions, leave, and you'll find a pair of graves.

You were never intended to go here straight away, the dear Major Caine was supposed to keep you in New Hensfield for a little longer where there would be exposition, a villain fight, and then getting this best tackled with a couple companies of unchained revolutionaries for assistance. Haring off against recommendation was not in the plan, but all can be turned to the good with time. James should be on his feet soon, and with him, the anchor of Tarran and Dominique.

Taric, you may not die, but you will serve my plot, and you will be much less safe than James ever was. My great regret is that you're the only person who knew a damn thing about the special projects, but that is dust in the wind.

As an aside, I'm going to be ditching maps and going back to the old style that, surprisingly, served very well in the prison facility.

Or a circular trench. Or nothing at all. Really, it depends on the person you give the shovel to, the situation they're in or going to be in, and how bored they are.

...*cough*

We were in a prison? My search-fu cannot find a post saying that we were and I don't recall it either.
