Tarran Smith

Open up the hatch and shout into it:

"Dominique Wakeman, Taric Sizier, your captain is getting increasingly angry at you two. He commands that you get your ass back here and explain yourselves this instant or he will make sure to whoop your asses to Sol and back. Love: Captain's echo."

It is unfortunate that you, unlike Dom, were never legitimately employed as a maintenance technician, if you had you might know how to open the door without physical violence. Not that physical violence sounded like a unattractive option right now. [Str 3][P.kinetics 3+2] [Door integrity 5] You smash the concealed hatch in with both hands, creasing the metal around your palms and denting the door back another inch into the wall. Heh, Dominique hardly had a monopoly on breaking technocrat equipment.
[Str 2][P.Kinetics 1 (bonus negated)] Your triumphant thoughts however don't translate well into your next smash. The envelopes of force that usually both protect and amplify your strikes simply fail to form, making you to ram your hands painfully and uselessly into the steel wall.

Ow.

Ashley Fey

Go report failure and desire to cremate the immortals to tarran

They're not here, they didn't come through here, and unless they're being really quiet they haven't squirreled away somewhere in here. Time to to get back to Tarran and tell him that it's either find his men in the next ten minutes or incinerate a half-dozen immortals.

You lead Jordan and Harry back to the room Tarran was searching, letting Harry once again take up a position in the mouth of the room to shine light on the interior. Tarran might have been happier if you hadn't done that considering that it reveals him prancing around and clutching his right hand in apparent agony. The light also reveals an inset section of the wall with a set of heavy fist shaped dents in the front.
If you had to guess you'd say that he found out how the others got into the tunnels.

---

Dominique Wakeman

"Let's check those rooms. Maybe we can find some supplies like ammo or something in them," Dom suggested, moving to open one of them.

The hatches up will lead to the locked rooms, rooms that if you're lucky will contain something useful. Considering that the others in their hall led up to private quarters you don't have high hopes but it's worth a shot. [E/O 1] You tell Jake to stop walking forwards for a minute while you wrestle with the closest up hatch. [luck 5] The hatches are thankfully much easier to open from this side and you're able to haul it open without too much trouble.

The room inside is... different from the others. For one its previous occupant saw no reason to decorate or really use anything other than simple metal. No hideously expensive wood, no garish neo-plastic, no paintings, not even the extraneous glass used to create the retro look. Just metal. Whoever lived here last was ascetic to say the least.
[observation 3, 3 Intuition 4, 3+1 Luck 3 17/30. Average result] The metal desk in front of you houses a both private system and a terminal, there's a door off to your left that probably leads off to the bedroom, and an unpadded metal training post dominates the middle of the room. You can see dents in it that are very reminiscent of hands.
[p.kinetics 5] The door back out onto the corridor, the one that you found locked when you checked it from outside, seems to almost... shine. You can't quite describe it but it just seems to glow, like it's more real than anything else your psychic senses are picking up. The effect is... disorienting.

---

Taric Sizier

"Why've I got the feeling something bad happened? At any rate, Which way Jake?"

You frown in silent thought as you follow Jake down the maintenance shaft. Your gut tells you that you missed something, like missing a section of code or a program's hidden parameter, but for the life of you can't begin to imagine what it is... Still scratching your head you shrug and blow it off, nothing you can do about it now.
Dom stops a couple seconds later, climbing up through a different hatch and saying something about checking the room for useful stuff. Her chances of finding anything are not bloody likely unless she's decided she needs whatever kind of designer sheets the Technocracy decided to bring down here. Women.
While you're waiting for her to get back down you talk to Jake, asking about directions to both the armory and to the survivor base.
"There's a ladder at the end of this shaft leading down to a hub, that hub then splits off into nine ways. One of the paths is marked with a restricted access mark, that's the one you want for the armory. Automated defenses may have been reactivated since Harrison's visit though, might make it hard to get through. Our holdout is straight down, just continuing going down the ladder, past the hub until you get to the bottom of the shaft. That'll get you to the heatsink grid, from there it's a series of seventeen marks to get back to our meeting hall."
"Marks, what kind of marks?" You ask cautiously, if Jake was the only one who could read these marks then he had a great deal of leverage.
"Maintenance marks." Jake says, giving the impression of a sheepish shrug in the darkness. "Not all of us can read, and the marks are sort of a common language for Shift workers."

James Evan

James ditched the armor, blasting with the shotgun at the BLight.
Spoiler: Initiative (click to show/hide)

Your own personal Carrie lunges low this time, [Blight Melee 3 Vs Dodge 1] catching you off-guard [Brawl 3+1] and tearing a bloody gouge across your stomach and blowing your rather useless armor into glowing shreds. (Armor -1 [destroyed], HP -19) She's bleeding you out, one cut at time.
This time though you've got a surprise in store.

[Quickshot 3+2 (point blank) Vs Dodge 1] You jump backward and raise the Gargoyle to about shoulder height and pull the trigger in one surprisingly smooth -for you- motion. She doesn't even have time to look surprised before the blast tears a large portion of her face off. (Blight is now Hurt)
Your triumph is however short lived, her features flowing back together out of what undefinable material dreams are made of. She looks severely pissed.
Granted that isn't much of a change.

She twists sideways to get out of the way of your shotgun, whirling and dropping down to slash at the back of your leg. [Blight melee 3+1 Vs Dodge 2] [Brawl 5+1] [Confirm critical 3 Vs 4, confirm failed] Cutting a deep slash across the muscles in your thigh, narrowly avoiding your femoral artery as it fans blood across your leg. (James HP -30)

If Ashley fails to open the thing, use my legs instead of my hands and smack the wall again. For crying out loud, it can't be healthy using your hand like a hammer without giving another part of your body a chance.

If there isn't, then the computer monitor should light up when Dom turns it on for you.

EDIT: I've thought about it and I think I figured out that failed roll Taric had. We triggered some alert in the base computer when I broke it open, didn't we? Some safety measure or something like that, and now our location is obvious. Dammit... :\

Ashley Fey

See if I can get the thing open, dispute the rough handling it has had

You sigh deeply as Tarran continues to dance the steps of St. Vitus. There is a very a good and profound reason that one should not attempt to break doors down with nothing but your fists, a reason that is apparently lost on the good captain. Regardless of his rather unconventional approach he does seem to have found the passage he was looking for, of course he also appears to have damaged it fairly badly in the course of his own particular brand of investigation.

You beckon for Harry to move the light up beside you while you take a look at the damage and see what you can do about the door while Jordan makes sure Tarran hasn't broken his hands. [Mechanical 5+1-2-1 (Door is extremely damaged)] Pretty standard fare, magnetic reader, largely mechanical for durability... There's usually a trick to these sort of things but you were never much good at it, still, you didn't get activated because you gave up easily. Pressing the hatch up and in using one of Tarran's dents as leverage you manage to make the seam gap enough for one of your blades to slip inside, from there it's just a matter of angle...

A couple of grunts and a muffled sound of steely protest later the hatch grudgingly allows you to lever it back into its slot, revealing the dark and oddly odiferous shaft beneath.

---

Tarran Smith

"Dominique Wakeman, Taric Sizier, your captain is getting increasingly angry at you two. He commands that you get your ass back here and explain yourselves this instant or he will make sure to whoop your asses to Sol and back. Love: Captain's echo."

You tolerate Jordan checking out your hand while Ash fiddles with the door, it would be nice at least to know that the damn thing hasn't decided to have a complete break-up after all these years together. Thankfully Jordan finds -after a great deal of seemingly unnecessary prodding and twisting- that your hand is bloody and bruised as deep as it goes but has sustained little to no actual damage to the bone structure itself. He does however go on to recommend against continued 'flaming idiocy that violates all precepts of good sense'.
Heh, people been saying that to you for years.

As soon as Jordan finishes with your hand you hear a slight sound of triumph from Ashley, followed shortly by the grudging scrape of the hatch you tried to bust sliding slowly out of the way. Credit where credit is due, that woman has a way with machines.
[Diplomacy 5+1] Kneeling down to the mouth of the shaft you reign in your temper and put on your best voice for the occasion. "Dominique Wakeman, Taric Sizier, your captain is getting increasingly angry at you two. He commands that you get your ass back here and explain yourselves this instant or he will make sure to whoop your asses to Sol and back. Love: Captain's echo." You shout down into the hole, keeping your voice smooth and coaxing even as you threaten to tan their hides for insubordination.

---

Dominique Wakeman

"Hey, Taric! Computer up here," Dom said, going back to the hatch. "Wanna give it a go?" If he did, she'd help pull him up into the room. If not, she'd try the other hatch and room. She wasn't going to touch that door herself, but maybe Taric could open it with the terminal.

Room, computers, strange glowing doors… Well, you sure as hell aren't touching the door; Maintenance code 101, if it glows it's probably about to kill you and everyone around you. The computer seems more Taric's speed, his recent history might be less than sterling but you're going to be right here if anything goes wrong.
Hmm... Why was that thought supposed to be at all comforting again?

Taric however accepts with his usual modicum of enthusiasm for anything computerized, letting you haul him up and point him in the direction of the chair, at least until Tarran's commanding bellow reaches up from the maintenance shaft, [will 3+1] freezing you in place with inexplicable feelings of guilt.

"Err..." Jake's somewhat more wavering voice floats up to you. "who is that?"

---

Taric Sizier

"Sure! Might as well." Wait for dom to get me up there, and then try and access the terminal."

At Dom's first mention of another computer system to wreak havoc on you're out of the tunnel, anything is going to be better than sitting around in the dark playing twenty questions with captain janitor. Hauling yourself with the lip of the hatch and Dominique's help you survey the room to no effect, forcing you to rely on Dominque's not-so-careful guidance to get yourself into position in front of the desk.

Cracking your knuckles back you prepare to fumble around and get this bloody thing working, that is until Tarran's voice interrupts your preparation. [Will Auto-success through perk] Ah, the princess has lost her subjects has she? You're busy, Tarran's pout can wait until you're done doing whatever the hell you feel like over here.

[Mechanical 5+1] Despite the darkness your exceptional skill allows you to operate the system as if you were not deprived of a major sense. After a couple of precise pokes a pale blue light flares into being at about head level, expanding into a three-dimensional rendering of the Mobius loop and sword of the Technocracy.
Nothing else happens.

There should be an interactive display, a password input sequence, something. This just hovers in midair, waiting for something that you aren't quite sure how to supply.

---

James Evan

James needed some real armor, quick. And so he tried to make the light armor he had been wearing in real life.

Spoiler: Initiative (click to show/hide)

You disengage as far as you're able, trying to keep what weight matters here off of your injured leg. You need armor, and you need it now or she's going to cut you to ribbons and wear you in her hair. [Will 5] Instead of aiming for something that you've never seen in before real life you keep it simple and close to home, imagining the simple weight and feel of the light armor your waking form currently wears, not bothering with the way it looks. The feeling of it encloses you, wrapping around your entire body in an uninterrupted field of protection.  Nothing about you visibly changes but you can feel the armor on your skin, even if you can't see it.

Your rather effeminate nemesis leaps forwards while you're spending most of your energy creating your armor, driving her knife downwards at your skull in a broad overhand sweep. [Blight melee 4 Vs Dodge 5] You dodge to the side and jab her in the ribs with your elbow in one extended move, staggering her sideways and keeping the strike from trepanning your skull.

((Dreamspace Armor has 100AP and a threshold of 50%))

"Taric, you keep messing with that, I'll deal with boss." Dom descended back into the tunnel, where she was hailed by Jake. "That would be Tarran Smith. He's a terrorist and our leader. Sort of. Mainly because when our squad was formed no one else wanted the job." Raising her voice, she shouted back to Tarran, "where the hell have you been while Taric and I were finding a survivor?"
