Try waiting until summer, Australians. You'll get your winter weather. I think...

No we won't. In fact we have to go out of our way to find snow, and evey then its mostly from snow machines. As goes the poem...

There is no winter in Australia
Unless you live in Tasmania
And if you do
Sucks to be you
Coz' the rest of us get no more then rain...ia.

30 AND 90 DEGREES!!! Good god man, water boils at 100! I find it hard to believe your keyboard hasn't melted at your fingers yet!!

Wait... Texas, I see. You don't use anything nice and metric.

South Idaho (drastically different from North Idaho, which I've also lived in and is probably miserably snowed in right now), we had around 6-8 inches last week, but since Monday it's been slowly melting away, not helped by the rain. This area has wacky winters, but at least I don't live in the mountains nearby; they've got at least 2-3 foot (.6-1.0 meter) deep snow everywhere.

Understanding both systems can prevent these sorts of things. On the other hand, we could all just speak Dwarven and measure it in Urists.

Urists.. so what is the boiling point of that again?

Dont you love playing DF in desolate wastelands, though? I like to pretend they are not dwarves but some sort of artic colony like in "The Thing". The one good thing I liked about zombies before they became fps killers, was that they enhaced the feeling of isolation in such maps. You actually had good reason to seclude yourself from the outside world.

Your telling them that when you count in base 10, a base 12 mesuring system is sane? I repect your opinion, and will take it into account next time you crash a mars rover because somebody didn't convert to metric.

No I'm saying I live in the less sane part of the world.

Metric system = sanity
Old Imperial system still used by the USA = !!FUN!!

Ah, I see. Well enjoy your nut house, sane people are boring and lazy, and don't crash space probes for AWESOME results.

Can we not get into a fight about this? The US has been "converting to metric" for the past fifty years. It is obviously never going to happen.

What if McDonalds starting to sell burgers by metric standards, so you got a "Quater kilo-er burger" instead? Would that help?

I'm going to assume for the sake of civility that you didn't pick that as an example for the lolamerica value, and say that that wouldn't help at all. The name would probably end up "Quarter Kilo Burger", whatever the non-american McDonalds call them, or just not changed at all.

Imperial is cooler. Sadly I live in Australia. :(

I've only ever seen snow once... And that was at a family reunion in NZ. :P
It was... Cold. And slippery.
