Speaking of companies that have gone lame - Treyarch. How do you go from making Die by the Sword to making Call of Duty sequels?

Well, money I guess, but still. Just makes me sad we'll never see a DbtS sequel even though the company that made it is more than functional (at least financially).

Mobygames and Wikipedia list Treyarch as the developer and Tantrum (along with Interplay, which Tantrum was a part of) as a publisher. Plus the credited project leads were from Treyarch, so I'm pretty sure Treyarch was the developer.

Hm, no one mentioned Ensemble Studios yet, the guys that made the Empires games and got the axe after Halo Wars(which sucked).

How could I forget the Age of [blank] series.  Empires 1-2 and mythology kicked ass.  I loved me some walls!  Oh right SirTech.  JA2 was great.  The Cleveland Mark Blakemore character was especially funny because I knew who the guy was before I played JA2.  It doesn't do him justice however.

Publishers almost always get top billing. It's been like that forever. It also sucks.
