I seem to remember similar things happening in the original game in that spot.  You end up falling so fast that the physics glitches out and you just fall through the floor.

There are a few spots where Super Sonic causes issues in Sonic 2.  There's a spot in Mystic Cave where you can get trapped in a spike pit as Super Sonic and have to wait until the timer or your rings run out.  I hope they fixed the glitch where you can turn into Super Sonic after beating a level, which causes a softlock.  I had that happen to me in Metropolis Zone once, which was a frustratingly late point to have to completely start over.  Seems like there was a glitch at the end of Wing Fortress zone as Super Sonic as well, causing him to miss a programmed jump, but I can't remember if it's possible to trigger that without a Game Genie or something.

As far as I can tell, the games available on the Switch Online emulators are the original ROMs, so they certainly wouldn't have any glitches fixed. The only change to any of them I know of is in Startropics, where the player's weapon was renamed from "yo-yo"(which is a trademarked term) to "star".

And yes, Sonic 2 is glitchy as hell. Believe me, I played it my entire childhood. I know another Super Sonic glitch in Metropolis Zone, where exiting those one-way tube things can drop you through the floor; most notable is the one where the exit is directly above the entry, so you'd end up back where you entered. Luckily, you can avoid falling through if you jump as you exit.

I'm actually surprised only Sonic 2 is available for the Genesis emulator. You would think they'd put up the first one, at least.

So after the first Hyperjump, my crew is ill.  I figure "Hey, why not see what happens when we Hyperjump again without Sleeping Pods?"
Oh, and those slavers are probably not a threat, I'll just jump immediately!

Upon exiting Hyperspace, 2 of my 3 crew are dead, and the survivor is unconscious.  The slavers kill the remaining survivor, apparently revive them, then leave with the sole remaining crewman.  Derelict Simulator Go!

Was playing the Imperium Galactica 1 campaign through the excellent open source remake " Open IG " .
Managed to complete the 1st chapter of the campaign that rewarded me with a promotion to captain.

At some point of the 2nd chapter i got a message about the ship doctor waiting for me on the bridge, she gave me a test that was a few question with multiple choice. That was a bit odd considering what has been going on in the campaign and the messages so far having been about help request/escort/etc... so far but i answered at first choosing the middle stance at each question , then for fun got the extreme choice in the last few questions.

Didn't thought about this much after that, resuming making building on the planets of the systems as one of my goals in this chapter was to get starship/equipment buildings ready in order to enhance my fleet and put the fight to the hostile aliens nearby.

Then at some point, a new message happened coming from the HQ, the commander guy told me that after checking the results of the test i was deemed too unreliable and was demoted from my position of captain, and additionally fired.

That was a rather unexpected way to lose :D

Do you know if that was the equivalent of a "stat too low" fail, or did they actually recreate an old copy protection check (which is what it sounds like to me)?

It sounds like a copy protection, but it was not (or it's nothing mentionned in the game manual, and as it's an open source remake it would sounds odd to reproduce a copy protection) .
In fact to pass the test you must think like in the military : "no fun is allowed" and "no weakling"

edit : how do you know you're not supposed to attack some alien areas when you're only in chapter 2 :

Yeah, that seems a pretty decent indicator for "don't fight these guys, you idiot".

Or so i thought :D
As soon as i reached chapter 3 (after promotion to Commander)  i got one of my planets warning me an invasion was coming to them.
From there 2 choices as there's no planetary defense yet and no money to even try to build them :

1 - i wait for the enemy fleet to arrive, drop all their tanks and try to beat them on the planetary surface with my own tanks.
2 - i use my fleet and go to intercept and destroy the enemy fleet before they arrive.

I choose 1-  , i see that they have 2 times my amount of tanks, and have not like me only light tanks, but medium tanks and artillery too, basically game over.
Reloading i choose 2- , see the screenshot on my previous post ? That's exactly what i see, so no more fleet and the whole system is undefended now.

Scratching my head to understand if OpenIG had simply utterly destroyed the campaign balance or if i did something very wrong (despite it didn't seemed to as i was following missions and objectives), googling a bit taught me that the error was mine.

Started plans to upgrade the library, adding more scribes' desks and the like, using the renovation interface to plan out the cost. As it turns out, cancelling the renovation plan will also demolish the building in question.

That's going to be expensive to rebuild from.

Took a leap of Faith and the huge pile of hay, instead of cushioning my fall, made me flop off it like it was a boulder and died.

I was hired to investigate an unknown facility to see if they were doing illegal weapons research. Big surprise, they were. Gigantic laser cannons that took off about 80% of my health in one shot. While there were enemies with a similar power level to mine around.

The fight did not last long.

Daemon x Machina.

Edit: To make it more fun, one of the enemies can put out healing areas for their team, but nobody on my team can. Next time I'll try that. 3rd time's the charm. 4th time's the charm.
