I was playing against a friend who's significantly higher ranked than me, playing a Reno handlock against my homebrew tempo mage. I had him down to 5 life, but both our hands were empty. Top decked my second Forgotten Torch. Put him to 1. You can guess what happened next.

Then I top decked Roaring Torch.

Fought Glavenus for the first time, accompanied by my long-time hunting partner and friend. He went ham on its face with his hammer (haha) while I skirted around it like a madman, trying to hit its tail with my longsword. It ran to another area, and I pursued it closely, trying to get free hits on the tail.

I was practically inside him when I crossed into the next zone, so I booked it forward, only to get a tail-slam to the back which knocked off half my health and sent me sprawling. Said slam was immediately followed by another, bigger tail-slam while I was still getting on my feet. Ow.

I got my revenge shortly after that by lopping off his tail with a stylish roundslash, so it's all good.

I usually go Dual Blades but I sorta have a thing for Switch Axes (and have an uncannily good one to boot.) It's probably worth it to try that one, right? I mean, seeing as the sword always hits regardless of hardness and the main reason this thing isn't in a million pieces in my storage closet already is because I can't get through his legs using the Hurricane dual blades.

You're absolutely goddamn right they can! They'll even stay in the same few areas, come to eachother's rescue, and knock you over when you're trying to throw a paintball at the other one!

Not helping matters is the fact that I brought a gunlance to an enemy-that-flies-and-is-thus-hard-to-hit-with-a-gunlance party.

EDIT: I just had to dig through eight layers of Aquifer. There wasn't even anything of note aside from candy, magma and crundles. I spent four hours trying to figure out how to get past that fucking aquifer. Fort abandoned.

Did you know the Iron Golem has an instant kill attack? Under some circumstances, it just casually throws you off the fortress with its grab attack.

Aside from that, the fight was easy.

1979 Revolution: Black Friday.

Caustic shrikes. Not only are they nearly impossible to hit, move incredibly fast and deal more damage then dragons and giants, they also have enough health to take an Apocalypse and several Fire Storms to the face without dying. I ran out of blink scrolls and heal wounds potions. I'd even cleared out that level and was passing through on my way to Zot.

Twilight Princess

Azure Rathalos, round 3. Swapped out my Dual Blades for an Assault Glaive, which lets me get hits in when he's in the air and makes mounting him much easier, as well as taking advantage of my Status Attack +1 skill from my armor.

I, after getting carted twice, got his health down low enough to force him to retreat to his lair. I caught him sleeping and stayed on the offense as long as I could, but he was no fool. Every time he landed, it was in such a spot I couldn't get to him; he'd position himself on the high ground, or between two lava pits, so I couldn't jump him or get to him from behind. Eventually, he landed, directly facing me, on more or less the opposite side of the area. I decide this is the perfect moment to throw a flash bomb and move in for the kill.

I start running forward the moment the screen turns normal again, and what did he do, you ask? He 360 noscoped me with a fireball. From 3/4 of the way across the area. You've fainted. Reward reduced by 2700 z. Reward reduced to 0 z. No continues remaining. QUEST ABANDONED

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

This is the last straw. Next time, I'm not just taking 10 potions and 10 mega potions. I'm taking 10 potions, 10 mega potions, 10 blue mushrooms, and 10 honeys. Maybe a couple of combo books too, to make sure I don't accidentally waste anything, since it seems whenever I'm making something with a 95% chance of success I -will- trip that 5% failure chance.
