Taking on a pair of Blangonga, and I've almost finished off the first one, but I have neglected to heal myself recently, and am around one third health. Usually not a problem for me, I know the patterns, but it's still a challenge. He absconds to his lair to heal, which is a small cave area. Again, not really a problem, but then the other Blangonga shows up at full health. I haven't quite mastered combating two monsters at once in confined spaces yet. Welp. Shit luck again.

I still have no idea how to fight two monsters in one area. I usually just stall until one leaves or otherwise play extremely cautiously, usually really extending the time I take to hunt.

On topic: So, I just beat the "Mark of a Hero" quest, which involves fighting 3 monsters in the arena. Ivory Lagiacrus, Brachydios and Azure Rathalos. Who, according to the wiki, are equal in power to G-Rank monsters. I succeed. Finally, I can meet the Alatreon, who I've never fought before. My plan of starting multiplayer (yes, starting!) with an Alatreon weapon may actually work!
Except that the Alatreon obliterates me. Totally. That's the death. After that I've managed to effectively fight him and break his horns, but my damage is far too low even with Brachydios weaponry to kill him within the quest time.
I guess that's pretty good for someone with singleplayer-only equipment and no previous experience against Alatreon.

I've not played MHU3 so I can't help you there. And as for two monsters at once, it's tough. I usually take off, but I've fought with two monsters in one area before, and the trick is to NEVER STOP MOVING. Dodge, duck, dive, dip, and dodge, run about, and stay away from walls. Focus on the monster you've been fighting, and try not to turn your back to the second monster. It you are having any trouble at all, get out.

I was fighting the One Eared Yian Garuga, a eight star quest, and holy shit it is an absolute dick. Fast, hits like a tractor trailer, and avoids traps, plus the absolute shit ton of health it has because its a high rank quest. The first time I fought it, I had given it a serious thrashing, but it was still up. I had cut off its tail, put a serious slice in its head, and had whittled it down enough for it to start limping. Then I messed up my dodge and it hit me with its backflip attack in rage mode. It took me down from almost full to a quarter health, and then it hits me with a fireball when I ran to quaff a potion. With -14 resistance to fire, it was over real quick.

I was chasing after a bomber, and didn't realize that I should probably slow down before I crash straight into it, which is exactly what happened.

Tried to do the nekhot urgent quest where I have to fight monoblos and white monoblos at the same time... but it turns out I had forgotten that I hadn't refilled my inventory when I had last played over a month ago so I only had about 5 potions and 5 mega potions.  I managed to kill the monoblos within 20 minutes only fainting once (I was a little stingy on healing for obvious reasons).  Then, while fighting the white monoblos which just also happened to be a large variant so I couldn't reach the tail to cut it except when it was burrowing or right after the horn-toss move thingy, so I eventually fainted one more time, ran out of healing potions, and then was down to 3 minutes on the quest.  At this time it was almost definitely near death so I tried to YOLO as hard as I could until it did one of the stupid dig and then dive up immediately things :(  The tail had barely even gotten underground when it went back up so it caught me in my dodge roll.

It was time. I had fought through a hell to get here. The biggest threats to me before this I could deal with before they could even act. My power was supreme. A demilich? Nothing to me. Powerful lieutenants of the creature I was about to face? Vastly underpowered. Balors, Pit Lords, Bebiliths? Easy. I could call dragons to my aid, I could become a dragon as well. I felt like the upcoming battle would be easy, simply because all else had been. So I face Him. His first act is to get one of my companions to betray me. And then something horrible happened. I realized Mephistopheles was magic immune. FFFUUUUUUUUU-

Oddly enough, I struggled through that game as a ranger but managed to kick Mephistopheles' butt without too much trouble. Then again, I had enough cash to upgrade my bow and 2 longswords to awesomeness, since I sold all the mage stuff as I couldn't use it.

Was clearing a live-fire training camp with a rogue VI driving it. I cleared the first two banks easily enough, but the third seemed to be filled to the brim with rocket turrets, which are ludicrously OP - the routinely one shot people through full shields. Must've taken me 40 tries to get through that last area, doesn't matter how fast I kill the turrets if they all mass up and swarm through the same area.

The Area 51 guards have always been rather fond of grenades, but on Perfect difficulty they gain a nearly suicidal preference for them. This time around, a guard literally tossed a grenade at his own feet to catch me in the blast.

What difficulty are you playing on? Even on Hardcore and Insanity, I didn't have too, too much trouble with that part; just had my squadmates stay in the forechamber while I drew one or two drones at a time into the bottleneck and shot them to pieces. Judicious use of tech powers and warp with lots of dakka tends to make things easy.

Speaking of OP, though, screw the Varren in the Bring Down the Sky DLC on ME1. So hard not to die when you open that first damn door and you get charged. At least on Hardcore and Insanity. *sigh*

Nice! And also, welcome to my Alatreon suffering. I have OP G-rank stuff and I still get owned. Usually my strategy for 2 monsters in the same area is to keep both in my field of vision and only take easy, low-risk attacks. So.. nothing special.

I was playing with my level 2- normal monsters deck, and I was up against some NPC dude who looked like he was using stuff that stops high-level monsters. He throws out a Raging Flame Sprite, level 3, can attack me directly and gains 1000 attack when it does so. He gets a single attack on me, raising it to 1100 attack. "No problem," I'm thinking. "If I use Thousand Energy to buff my own monsters to 1500 attack, I can take it out easily." So I do that, and attack his monster.

Naturally, he activates a trap card: Mirror Force, which destroys all my attacking forces. FFFFF

Serana the Vampire wench convinces Fusco the crusader:

1) not to kill her vampire arse on the spot
2) to escort her surprisingly weak arse to her fortress
3) to cut through the swamp due to the hassle of (me) freezing to death

Cue us walking all happy, killing wolves.  then a 'Guardian Troll' Appears.  It one shots her in the face, and although I killed it, the damage is done, the quest broken.  I suicide in the bay water.

Funny, usually Serana lightnings things to death in my game.

I took control of a deer with dfhack and tried to kill my own adventurer. He bit it on the foot and there it into the river, whereupon it drowned.

I stood in a tile of smoke for 1 turn and proceeded to hack up my entire health bar.
