Got mobbed and surrounded by blink frogs in Lair. I read a teleport scroll, and chugged all my healing potions in an effort to keep myself alive until the tele went off, but I got overwhelmed. Absolute shame too, I had a sweet randart -3 +11 executioner's axe and I probably could've survived had I fought them in a more contained environment. Being surrounded screwed me over, even with cleave.

I hate blink frogs and their annoying blinking+flanking tactics.

Dungeon crawl Stone Soup 0.13 trunk. Playing a lava orc skald.

Skalds got an update that makes them work really well. Many different buffs for drawn out combat that compliments Okawaru well. Song of Slaying is fun.

Night came and I hoped my wall would be enough to keep zombies away from villagers. Unfortunately I didn't count on creepers blowing up the wall while I was on it. Then zombies started pouring through the hole in waves of 2s-3s. I fought them off with my sword until it broke, then started fighting them with sticks and cobblestone. At that point a couple of skeletons showed up with spiders and turned me into spiderbait with metal toothpicks. Since it was hardcore I didn't get to respawn to try again. I don't think defending the village was worth my life.

A meat berserker appeared out of thin air right next to me and clobbered me before I could even react shortly after I picked up the axe of woe, joined Makleb, and killed my first meatbag. Basically, I start, then boop, I die.

It's probably one of the most unfair deaths I've ever had. Berserk op, nerf plz.

I had a bad run of luck with Ghost Jousting, losing all of my shields just in time to get blown to pieces from 50 different directions.

Halo 2. I'm quickly discovering that Heroic is a lot more fun than Normal difficulty, and I don't even mean it in the Dwarf Fortress way.

Halo 2. I'm quickly discovering that Heroic is a lot more fun than Normal difficulty, and I don't even mean it in the Dwarf Fortress way.

Heroic has that perfect blend of difficulty.  Enemies react intellegently, of your shields go down at the perfect rate, and there are just enough enemies.  It's challenging, and you have to stay on your toes, but it isn't at that "OH DEAR GOD A GRUNT" level of legendary, or the level of COD where it's impossible due to the enemies having an unlimited supply of grenades and not realizing they have a gun.   

I rarely play Halo on anything but heroic now.  I occasionally play on legendary, and I'll often put on a variety of skulls to mix things up, but Heroic+IWHBYD+Gruntbirthday+Cowbell is the golden combination for me. 
That is if you're talking about fun as in actual fun.  That's the only non-DF definition of it I know.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, The Brilliant Darkness still

Two Warthogs collided, which completely and utterly dumbfounded both Marine pilots. They stopped moving right in the middle of a pitched battle with two Wraiths, both of which fired on us at the same time, obliterating both Warthogs with all hands.

Ended up provoking a zombie pigmen horde by mistake. One of them followed me back to the overworld where it murdered me pretty quickly. It pretty much killed me every time I tried to get my things back and for some reason NONE of my hits registered on it, the only way I got rid of it was by luring it back to the portal. By then all of my items despawned.

It's the difficulty-fun, not the sadistic "I know I'm going to lose, but I'm going to take everybody else down with me in the most brutal way possible"-fun of DF.

I'm no good at finding secrets in Halo games. The closest I got to ever finding a secret is the time I discovered that you don't have to jump on the Scarab as soon as you see it; you can keep firing on the passengers from afar until you run out of rockets and sniper ammo, following it all the way to the end of its preset path.

I actually did board the Scarab that Johnson pilots in the last level, but there's a force field keeping you from going inside. And there was a checkpoint sometime after I got out of the Banshee, so I had to reset the level.

I used to love to play the Halo Heroic Challenge.  Ironman the game, no deaths.  Also, towards the end start doing other fun things, like no vehicle runs.  Well, no vehicles for combat runs.
