More of a fail then a death but: Navel battle, my five ships (4 ranged and one ramming) against the enemies single ramming ship.

I plan to ram their ship, splitting it in half in a quick and decisive move. My ranged ship sitting off to the sides firing flaming missiles to deal with the 12 guys on the enemy ship.

Enemy gets the ram instead of me, severely damaging my melee ship. Wanting to deal with them faster I move my missile ships closer.

I try to move my melee ship behind the enemy ship, but for some reason the oarsmen haven't mastered the art of rowing a trireme so it turns on a pivot.

"Nononononono! Turn, turn damn you!" Missile ship moves in front of my melee ship. Slight bump and all hands abandon the melee ship as it starts to sink.

So, I ended up losing a general to my own clumsy tactics. The best part is I reloaded and replayed the battle and got the exact same result.

Presumably it's one of the Total War series, but care to tell us what your game is?

My last death: Delving into the now hardmode Dungeon, I'm looking for some ectoplasm and maybe a death ray shooting staff. I find an area suitable to farm in, and manage to trap a bunch of mobs below as I shoot with impunity at them attached to the ceiling with a grappling hook. I see a much larger movement out of the corner of my eye, and notice that there's a Paladin coming down some stairs, and think to myself "Oh, 5k health? I bet he can't melee me from up here."

Turns out he throws hammers that go through walls and do massive damage on each hit.

Deus Ex on realistic difficulty.  I was in the airport making my way to Lebedev's jet when I alerted an NSF guard I didn't realize was around the corner.  I ran around the corner into a security bot that I decided to run around rather than disable.

I'd just got through thinking, "You know, this game is too easy if you've played it before, even on realistic difficulty."

The 82nd U.S Airborne after fighting Polish and Soviet troops for 3 days straight in Sweden was finally relieved by French troops. I was however severely underwhelmed by the performance of the French tanks/jets/armored scouts.

After hard fighting the French troops failed to bring us the victory and are now in the same boat as the 82nd, a boat which has lost all it's tanks. This was a bad analogy, but still.

Wargame: Airland battle. I'm rather bad at this game but goddammit we're going to save Scandinavia. This is serious business. Technically i suppose this wasn't a defeat but it throws my plans off and will cost us precious time.

After playing it safe for the entire level, painfully sniping targets from afar with scrounged pistol ammo, I'm finally ready to complete the mission's first objective and get a move on.

Cue the flying interceptor robot. I lose my shit and waste all my pistol ammo on it, gaining nothing but a hail of chaingun fire in retaliation. I forgot that I was standing in a minefield and backed up into a mine, blowing myself to bits. Ironically, the minefield housed the rocket launcher I needed to take down the interceptor.

Perfect Dark.

Got mobbed by simulacrums on the last level of Swamp. In retrospect, it was stupid to think I could avoid the enemies of swamp by flying over deep water, because the enemies in Swamp can swim. All the simulacrums were being spawned by a statue, I suspect, because the game would mark zones "unsafe for traveling". I had to get past the statues though if I wanted to find the rune of Zot, I had checked everywhere else on the floor.

Man, I was doing so well. Had over 50 AC, picked up a +2+2 demon whip of electrocution off of Mara's corpse I was gonna enchant to use for endgame, had full Ok piety and a sweet +11 storm dragon armor randart and everything. If I had gone back to my stash I could've gotten more blink scrolls, or enchant my whip better, or something that could've helped me not die to a hydra simulacrum and its cronies.

Welp, YASD.

They don't tell you this, but a tank's gun is an anti-anti-tank gun.

In this run Xyzzina managed to cross out almost half of suspects, raised badassery stat to 9 and found lots of goodies including absurdly powerful tazer. Unlike in previous movies when a brief struggle with Stalker tended to end with heroine's death or wounds, she calmly shot him whenever he came close. Things were going good. And then I misclicked and ended up taking bath. Such display of genre blindness was obviously punished by death.

Played darksouls again, remembered how horrible the game can get. Want to fight a boss that is built around having an ally to help? Good luck getting through the army of PvP's who back track with advanced gear and spells and can kill you in one hit.

Every time I turn human, I get invaded in 10 minutes by someone with a weapon or spell that brings me to almost no health.
