The game takes place in an alternate history in which Winston Churchill dies in 1931, eight years before the start of World War II, presenting the possibility of what could have happened to Europe, the United States, and the rest of the world without his leadership. The United Kingdom is subdued by Nazi Germany in 1940, and the rest of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East fall soon afterward. The United States, infected with anti-war sentiment, does not get involved overseas. The game takes place in the midst of the Greater German Reich's invasion and occupation of the east coast of the United States in 1953.

I just wrote up a whole paragraph arguing why that story-line doesn't make sense but then I realise it's:
A) A World War II alternative history story-line which always revolves around sucking American dick.
B) It's a game so who the dick cares about story-line if the gameplay is solid (not that can I confirm solid gameplay).
C) It's an internet forum so who the dick cares?

I started a challenge run with a friend on Tales of Graces. We can't level thanks to a New Game + option, so bosses hand our asses to us on a fairly regular basis.

We died about 5 times on a boss who was taking out half our HP in a single hit before we gave up and lowered the difficulty. I have a feeling that we'll run into the same problem later, but there won't be a lower difficulty to go to. This will be !!FUN!!.

Modded skyrim, the "Duel" mod really does make melee combat a whole lot more intense.

I was an engineering cyborg, and there was little to no power in the station. Me and some other people tried to get the singularity engine working. When I tried to enable the last field generator, the singularity grew in size and started devouring things. I tried to pull a changeling (I didn't know he was one until we both died) away from doom, but then we were both devoured.

Was covering my allies group of nuclear gunboats with giant squids and started to jam along a little with Frank Klepacki as I wrecked some dolphins shooting sonar.
Being distracted I failed to notice a UFO travelling to my power grid which weaved around my AA defence and shut down my power. His ally soon followed up with a rush of trucks packed with nuclear bombs which then exploded destroying most of my base and turning the majority of my troops into green goo.

I was making good progress developing my little technocratic, socialist, green utopia when the world markets decided to crash(again) and I hit the budget cieling. Before that, there was also a ploy by nationalists being unhappy about the cuts I made in the military after the first market meltdown

I got myself into rice plot with an archer behind and before me. Dodging like some crazy god of dodging, I managed to evade all the arrows for some time and then kill them both - one shooted his own fellow, and then I used the occassion to shout him.

As I beamed with pride, I haven't noticed that another archer spawned behind me and shot me in the back, killing me.

Was that because someone turned it on while you were out there? If so, you gotta keep an eye out for those particles and the growing Singularity.

If it's because you turned it on and then went out to start the field generators, that's a very big no-no for the exact reason you just described. Get the field generators up, THEN turn the Singularity on, otherise you're just asking for trouble.

Mastered the Burglary skill, and the very first shop that I relieve of a free item happens to give me a 10-star sword with a total of about 35 damage on it. On floor 1.

Needless to say I promptly kill everything with impunity, and everything goes just about as expected, with most monsters dying in one or two hits.

So when I hit the 108-population monster zoo on floor 3, I was looking forward to killing everything. Unfortunately the out-of-depth monsters and their champions had other plans.

Dungeons of Dredmor. The sword in question actually looks to have been pretty much the best possible weapon I could have actually gotten as a dual-sword user, besides Kronging something up, since I don't have CotW yet. On the plus side, at least I got the achievement for dying to an enemy counterattack, so at least that's something I guess.

Tried one of the super hostile adventure maps. Gave up after 5 minutes after being mobbed by zombies and skeletons, which now surround my pile of the only wood and weapons I have access to in that area...
So I decided to watch some Doctor Who instead.
