Yep. Just wait til you get to Vamp. It's a nightmare. Don't even try to punch him. I usually just beat him with the Stinger trick so it tends to be the easiest boss fight in the game for me, but I don't think I've ever attempted a nonlethal on him except on Hard.

I was walking around the Black Market when, without provocation, one of the shopkeepers shot me in the face.

In spelunky EVERYTHING is your fault.  From boomerang flinging tiki men, to bats activating arrow traps that send arrows into the shop, to crazy boulders kool aid man-ing through the shopkeeper's back wall.   Hell I think I even get kill credit when the damsel stupidly runs around and lands on a spike.

You don't get credit for spike kills.  Least not for that run.

I casually stroll out of an evac shelter I just looted, tuna fish can in hand, when I get attacked by a cougar. It almost tears my utility belt off on the first strike, then it runs off. As it's charging in for the second strike, I throw the can at at it for three damage. I equip my pointy stick, it lunges, bites me in the leg, and I start bleeding. I stab it in the head for ten damage and it retreats again. I throw the stick at it for two damage and it dies. Since that leg is almost out of health, I tear apart my shirt for rags but receive nothing. I was about to sacrifice my pants as well but then I bleed to death. Game, set, match. Well played, cougar.

Finally killed by a shotgun-wielding guard after I overestimated my skills with the M9. I would have restarted from the point where I left the Core, except I was having so much fun running from the guards and trying to defeat them non-lethally.

Also, this marks the first time I've used stun grenades in this game. Bizarrely though, I haven't seen any non-RGB6 frag grenades except in VR.

MGS2.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found some. Apparently I've been picking them up and not noticing since I never use them.

It's been a few months since I shot a few aliens, so I decided to boot the new XCOM up again. And there were several amazing moments, like my support Overwatch killing one Thin Man as he entered the battlefield (with Damage Roulette active, no less). And then came the first Council Mission, and I opted for the Slingshot content. First mission was easy peasy, so I got a bit cocky.

Then the second Slingshot mission came. I haven't even approached laser weapons, I've only got ~6 promoted troops (3 of whom are in medbay)... and the game decides that it needs to drop Mutons onto the battlefield. I lose two troops (one to the world's luckiest Thin Man shot), then activate the last of the four transponder points on the very last turn. Mission complete... I thought. Nope, now I have to move again and start the train. Except I've run out of time. Mission failed.  >:(

-snip-
Explosives are extremely useless in MGS2. I never use them except for the Stinger for the bosses you have to use it on, stun grenades on the hallway guard battle in the Tanker (but only on lower difficulties since the game doesn't let you have stun g.'s on E.E.), the RGB6 for when I'm not cheesing Vamp, and the Nikita on the part you have to use it to save the President.

I've never felt the need to use frags on anything before. Same goes for the sniper rifles. There's a lot of weapons in this game that are mostly just for completing specific, usually directly plot-related portions of the game. No big deal imo though.

I decided to set the pirates to Strong and Many since I was bored of them becoming a non issue as soon as I got hyperdrives. Twenty minutes in I had met 3 raider, 1 smuggler, and 2 mercenary groups. Each one of them had escorts nearly twice the size of my destroyers.

I held them off from my colony pretty well with some frigates and defensive bases. Then one of them sent a cruiser and a RESUPPLY SHIP. Since I couldn't afford to pay them off the pirates continued to raid my now-defenseless colony until I ragequit.

You need to make said elf leather into the most amazing work of art.  Embed it with every kind of gem you have, stud it with metals, and sew images into it.  Erect a shrine outside your fort with that in the center.  Let the elves know that you view their very skin as naught more but a medium for your dwarves to work on.

the RGB6 for when I'm not cheesing Vamp,

Oh man, I remember learning how to cheese Sniper Wolf with the Nikita in the first game. It made the cutscene afterwards a bit silly; how can you be "lungshot" by a rocket launcher? ???

One of the things I miss in the transition from MGS1 to 2 is that the consequences for screwing up or messing around weren't quite as dire in the first game. It's fun hiding from room clearings, but sometimes I just want to put C4 on everyone's back and then detonate it all at once. I don't even know if that's possible in MGS2.

Pfft. Of course it is. You haven't tried yet?

I never knew you could cheese Sniper Wolf with the Nikita. But then MGS2 was the first MGS game I played so it's my best one. I don't know all the tricks for MGS1. Beating it on Extreme was haaaarrrddd..

I don't know if it's possible in The Twin Snakes, but it's entirely possible in the PC version of the original game (which is the one I've played the most, sadly). Most of the time I end up feeling like a cheater and reloading it to do it the old-fashioned way though, since the PSG1 is useless for almost everything else IIRC.
